Hi Everybody. I'm new and believe it or not my 82 year old mother turned me on to this web site. She read about it in the paper.

Why my name? My original name was "Barbara" because my Dad fell in love with the little girl next door named Barbara Ann. She must have been sweet.

I always knew this was not my correct name. It was supposed to be Katherine after my grandmother, my mother's middle name, my first grade teacher, Katherine Hepburn and Katherine the Great. Besides, in the 60's Barbie Dolls came out and my life went to hell. Barbie this and Barbie that.

When I divorced, my daughter asked me not to change my last name to my maiden name, (which I didn't like anyway), so she wouldn't have to explain. I needed to change something to reflect my new identity so I changed my first name. I didn't know how to spell it but I was great at phonetics so I made it up: Kaity.

When I was in contracting, the spelling helped me out so much. Once people saw it, they never forgot it. Good name.

So, that's where my name came from.

Welcome Kaity....I too enjoyed the story of how you came up with your name AND reading a bit about you. Great to have you here in the forum - you'll love it here.

Kaity, great story.

Tell us about your mom. Has she been on the site? We'd love to have the wisdom on an 82 year old mom. Does she have a computer?
