Saw an article in my local paper about this site..
I am 53, have 6 children (blended family), am a very happy empty-nester (at least for the moment!). I work full-time at home and do volunteer work for The Guiding Eyes for the Blind. Very happily married and happy to join all of you. Also, my screen name is my initials, no hidden meanings!

Welcome, JWF213. It's good to see you here. I hope you're making yourself at home and finding out what a great bunch of women we are.

I just came from the eye doctor, and can barely see because of the drops he gave me. So it seems a good time to ask you how you got involved in The Guiding Eyes for the Blind?

PS...the fact that I'm here even though I can hardly see the computer screen should tell you how addictive being here can be!

I am located in Somers which is about 50 miles due north of the city. I am on the border of CT, near Danbury.

I got involved with Guiding Eyes because we no longer have a dog, and I work in the breeding kennel. This allows me to spend time with the pups before they go to their Home Raisers (for 18 mos prior to entering service program)without the responsibilty of a dog. It is a very happy and positive way of working with animals, and it is a very worthwhile cause.

jwf13 - I am familiar with Somers. Years ago, when we were involved with Amway, we had meeting at a high school there, I believe it was JFK. My brother and his family lived in Danbury, close to Marcus Dairy. My favorite part of CT was Stew Leonard's!!
Guding Eyes sounds like wonderful work.

Welcome Judi! What a wonderful job you have working with the pups before they join their new families. I guess it's like being a foster mom in a way.....must be very rewarding (and fun too).

Glad to have you here - it's a GREAT place to meet women with all kinds of interests and thoughts - have fun exploring all the topics!

Hey Eagle, not seeing too well and yet not ONE typo...neat!

Judi what you do is so great, all the fun of the animalos and not having to take the mess home. Many animal lovers here, I am a foster animal mom myself until a permanent home can be found.
