Snowshoeing is super easy and a great workout. I did a little blog post with pics and automatic little slideshow of some of the great mountain lush snowy scenery we have seen over the years.

We do other stuff at these areas too. smile

Beautiful shots and great descriptions, Orchid. How long does it take a person to learn to snowshoe?

It's like walking, but in deep snow, you do genuinely appreciate the snowshoes.

I would recommend that a person walk at least a mile or more nearly daily in advance and do some stretching exercises also to be more limber.

I think several people here would love it. It's so easy but a great workout, particularily in hillier areas. Or mountain slopes.

I went with a group once in the local mountains. It really doesn't take much training if you're in shape.

My best friend and I walk together -- even though she lives in Texas and I live in Washington State. We talk on our cell phones while walking! (We call it "Walkie-Talkie.") I wrote a little story about it and posted it on my blog: http://iousex.blogspot.com/

Snowshoeing sounds like fun. The U. S. Forest Service offers free interpretive snowshoe walks at Snoqualmie Pass (near Seattle) on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays -- and they even provide the snowshoes. I'm just not sure I'm in good enough shape to enjoy it.

The best fun I ever had in the winter was going snow skiing across country in Illinois. It is fantastic exercise too.

Sandy please take advantage of the snowshoeing. If you have a companion along, you'll enjoy it. It really is dreamy among the snow-draped trees and mountains because you get out in areas where the snow is deep and really lush.

I see people on snowshoes in the park across the street.
It does look like great exercise! Glad you enjoy it.

Lovely shots on blog. We got lots of snow last night so this is one day we could probably snowshoe, but I have none. Since I love to walk, I bet I'd love snowshoeing.

orchid, I enjoy reading about your adventures. Keep enjoying the outdoors!
