I thought it might be fun to share what Web sites we frequent so I'll begin.

I'm thinking of sites I've used this past month. Many ahve to do with Christmas shopping so I don't use them often, but have frequented them.

www.vermontcountrystore.com (bought some dress socks for diabetics) They are probably the msot boring things on their site. If you haven't been there you should visit. They have all sorts of neat old fashion products.

www.dell.com (computer for daughter)

www.apple.com (computer for son)

www.karmaloop.com (clothes for youngest son)

www.amazon.com (books)

www.jonathanbregel.com (son's blog)

I also use twitter, facebook, and linkedin, but haven't been as dilignet during the holidays.

www.audioacrobat.com

www.constantcontact.com

Where do you go while online? I'm looking for some new sites to browse. ANy good ones?

I'm going to love this thread! I bookmarked the Vermont country store. And I am looking right now at one of your son's videos. He does beautiful work. Very very impressive. I LOVE documentary films and see all of them when they have their film weeks here.

and of course, Facebook.

Dotsie, I love the Vermont Country Store link is really cool. I just saw a chenille bedspread on there and the last time I saw one of those was on my Grandmother's bed!

PJ, when we visited our friends in upstate NY we drove to Vermont one day to ride these fun scooters down a mountain during summer. We left the mountain and my friend said there was one store we had to visit before heading back. You guessed it - Vermont Country Store. I fell in love with it. Not sure if they have photos of the store on the site, but it's a definite step back in time.

EW, tropicalglen, another nostalgic site. Very cool.

Do you buy much on Ebay? I've never gotten into it, but my sister-in-law was buying things left and right for a while.

The muenchen site didn't come up for me. What's that?

PJ, chatty should see these animal blogs. She's such an animal lover.

The fig and lemon, and blog by your friend in Italy are very cool. I don't really have any blogs that I follow, other than boomer related stuff. I need to branch out a bit.

Anyone follow any neat blogs they'd like to suggest?

Dotsie, so true...Chatty and I are facebook friends so she should definitely check out the bedlam farm blog because Jon Katz is on facebook as well.

I have never been to VT. but saw it from a distance once when I was on a train. I want to go there sometime in the fall and I would love to check out that store.

I loved Vermont. Have been there twice and each time in the fall. I think I've been in that store featured in blog, Dotsie. Not sure..it's been a few years since I was last in that state.

Great stuff, Dotsie that your son has! I guess filmmakers / photographers like black backgrounds for web sites & blogs. Just wondering because from a researcher's standpoint for business references/future work referrals, it's abit of a pain to print off such pages when there's so much ink/black. But it's exciting he's building his career and part of it is online. Cool.

Will list blogs that I check out...later. Just returned from my daily cycle in drizzly rain and must add more new content on blog before we go on vacation in next few days.

LOL That's funny, Chatty! I think you will love the Bedlam Farm blog. But being an animal lover you may have already read some of Jon Katz's books about his dogs. They are wonderful, as is his blog. If you get interested in it and want to hear how he came to be out there on that farm just let me know and I'll tell you some of the history. He is on facebook as well....I am a fan and he gives a lot of updates.

Ok, list is slapped together because I have to run and pack for a trip tonight:

http://www.momentumplanet.com/issues On non-racing cycling articles and cool stuff in the world of cycling. Latest 2010 issue is about cycling in our city (probably with Olympic visitors in mind.)

http://www.copenhagenize.com/ Cophenhagen is the lead world cycling city with up to 40% of population cycle there. International links worldwide to cycling culture in other countries.

http://www.copenhagencyclechic.com/ Just primarily photos of fashionable/ordinary people cycling. There are other cities that imitate the chic of cycling. It's unbelievable what gals will cycle in.

http://forums.teamestrogen.com/index.php For women worldwide on cycling with some non-cycling. There must be over 30-40 women over 45 yrs. who bike regularily...group is large in participation...probably over 200 active posters. Teamestrogen sells cycling specific clothing for women but owner of forums is like Dotsie, quite hands-off to allow discussion.

http://forums.teamestrogen.com/showthread.php?t=35039 We have a world-wide cycling relay trip involving an Oxfam doll is being passed around. Either doll is biked to next rider or is mailed. Right now it is about to leave Australia for New Zealand and will get to the U.S. this year.Canada. At some point, Europe since we have some active European members and very few in Asia so far. Yes, it will come to vancouver since we have several active members who participate. I've met the women. If no one else will, I will cycle to the Canada-U.S. border/into Washington state. from home to fetch or drop off doll. (I live about 70 kms. from the border.)

http://www.theweathernetwork.com/weather/CABC0308?getSubtmpzne=ndxbusiness Canada's weather network website is different from U.S. I find it gives way more info. that is not so advertising driven.

http://mashable.com/category/wordpress-lists/ For blogging technical work. Of value to those who use Blogger and Wordpress software, social media.

http://www.rei.com/category/4500013 U.S. national sporting goods and fitness wear for everyone.

http://www.mec.ca/Main/home.jsp;jsessionid=jvzvLBkGw7QLLkKC0yPPr111fG2ZGCfC7RPxJkblvqp38TlpxYwr!931308074?bmForm=splash&bmFormID=1262576774771&bmSubmit=english&bmUID=1262576774771
Canadian national sporting goods and fitness wear for everyone. You might find cheaper pricing here.

I don't buy online but 2 above stores I will visit wherever I am. MEC has a store here in town. REI I visit whenever I get to Seattle which is...tomorrow.

And I tend the blog garden below..more new articles to roll out by end of this week. smile

orchid, I find it interesting that you also frequent a blog for cycling that's for women only.

How many people here like sites that are specifically for women?

Enjoy your vacation.

I'm not crazy about the black background, nor the small print, but he's all over it. He has some exciting updating to do on his blog, but gets distracted while home. He's still here. Heading back to NYC tomorrow and ready to jump back into work. It's been great fun having him around. He's got some neat stuff lined up for 2010.

I prefer to be on sites where there is a broad range of women. ANd most definitely women who can express themselves clearly in writing which includes this forum plus other that I participate. So I guess I might be bored on a forum where everyone was speaking in a lingo / slang all the time which might be the case if it was a forum dominated by young girls/women. There's a whole different culture elsewhere, that's for sure!

To answer the question, I prefer sites for not only women but boomer women. I am on other writers sites which include men and women but we stick to writing topics mostly so I find them tolerable.

Yes, here's the link for Jon on facebook. You'll have to "become a fan" rather than add him as a friend and then once you do you will get all his posts and updates. Let me know if this doesn't work, but it should.

SHould clarify that not all young women are lingo oriented. Do I prefer boomer women oriented sites/forums? not necessarily at all. Women 20 yrs. younger have much to offer to many different topics and keeps us learning continously. This is why I hang out on a totally different women's forum elsewhere.

There is quite a difference between points of social cultural history between myself and my youngest sister (10 yrs younger, born in 1969): already within my own family it feels like 1/2 generation difference.

I have to admit I enjoy reading the posts on Facebook. Right before Christmas I had gotten so involved in all the stuff they offer there I was spending hours, and I mean hours, trying to keep up with everything, and for what?
So I dropped out of everything except just being a member with her own page, that is so much simpler and I can get in and out in less than half an hour now. I do support my friends there but besides Writers Voice and here on BWS, I don't bother with much else. I like reading all your blogs.
I can't believe the amount of stress I was putting on myself with childlike games. OMG!!!

For those of you who love to garden. You should visit www.whiteflowerfarm.com. I love browsing this site this time of year. I get their catalog. I want to cut the pages out and hang them on the walls because they are so gorgeous.

Here's one that you ladies might enjoy seeing....it is a product site, but get this...the scale never shows your weight!

All it shows is what you have either lost or gained.

Quantum Scale

And it comes in pretty colors, too.

Another site I love is The Pioneer Woman where she combines recipes with fun. This woman is hilarious but warning...her recipes are not for the dieter at heart.

I think that's a good idea, but I already have a scale and am not willing to pay 60 bucks for a new one.

Our scale shows how much you've lost or gained since the last time you weighed in, but it also shows how much you weigh.

I agree about the price and then you have to pay shipping, too. But for someone who doesn't already own a dozen or so scales (insert laughter), this one might be a good thing for them.

I want one of those body bugs that the Biggest Loser advertises and sells. Wahhhhhh...I want one! Boy are they expensive though! Hey, who needs two kidney's, right?

After reading all about it, I've decided it is too much trouble to use it, too expensive to own, and you have to sign up for an online program if it's going to benefit you at all. Why pay someone 9.95 a month just to see if you've eaten too much. I can do that with a pencil, piece of paper, and my scales. Hello? No thanks....

For ~ 6 months, I was immersed in everything SEO and marketing. Over that now, for the most part. I read occasional blogs by friends but not regularly.

Facebook, BWS, Etsy forums, LinkedIn (as time allows). And of course, my endless puttering around all my own sites.
