Think everybody is busy getting ready for Christmas, groovy.
They're sending cards, trimming trees, and planning meals.
Me, I'm just trying to get over this stupid infection or whatever it is. I'm up and about but still doctoring the dumb
thing. So you're busy at the store helping your daughter and
son-in-law, hey? Where do all the orders come from, I'm wondering? The net or walk-ins mostly?

The fish at midnight tradition on Christmas Eve must have been a custom in many homes. We as Italians had fried smelts at the stroke of midnight, there were pickled herring on the table for Christmas but only smelts on Christmas Eve.....

Funny, but many years later when pregnant with my first son I ate fried smelts and Italian salads almost every day, thats what I had a strong craving for.

Chatty, what are fried smelts?

My mom's Irish and they had pickled herring at all thier family Christmas parties.

Smelts are small fish about 6 inches long. They have a mild flavor and are delicious breaded and fried. They get crispy!

Never had smelt. Never had tilapia either but heard they are
good. Perhaps I'll try them someday. Do you folks eat tilapia?

I've had tilapia and it is a family favorite. We buy it frozen and bake in the oven or toss it on the grill with some spices. It is very mild, which is about the only kind of fish I can handle!

Thanks chatty. I've had tilapia in a restaurant. It was delish, but have never made it.

I've had tilapia as well but always fried by somebody else. It's almost like red snapper. But, uglier. My older grandson turns his nose up at it because he says it looks like a piranha. Kids!

I've had tilapia and I like it. I get it at the grocery store and put a little lemon on it...bake it...and there you go. It doesn't taste "fishy."
