...and a way to deal with books you no longer want. I 'stumbled upon' this web page a while ago and thought y'all might be interested. If you haven't heard of it, you sign up and can get alerts that books have been placed at a specific location. If you're the first person there, you get the book, for free. You can also leave books and report where you left them. Each book is assigned a number so that if your book is picked up by another member, they record it, and if you're lucky, you can follow the progress of the book you left.

I signed up and get periodic alerts with the name of the book, author's name, and where it was left. They seem to come in clumps - I won't get anything for days, then someone will leave 5 or 6 books at one location.

Dotsie, I haven't gone to pick up anything or drop of anything. Most of the dropoffs so far have been a good distance away from where I live and work, so I'll wait. I'm taking off a couple of days next week and plan to organize my books - if I can find them all! Stuff is all over the place right now until all the remodeling is done - hopefully in this century! LOL

Yonuh, I hope you follow up. I look forward to hearing about how it works. I kept getting the meails and thinking I was going to do something about it, but never did. I have a hard time parting with my books. Please let me know how you like it.

I use to do this but my attention wanned, I suppose. It was fun to check and see where all the books would land each time.

I have a complete library of health books that are as they were when new. PLus other mystery books, I haven't even opened yet I would like to get rid of, keep forgetting until someone brings it up in the forum...

I just stumbled upon this site also - signed up but haven't sent any books "out into the wild" yet. Can't wait to track them down and see where they go once I do - I have quite a few I want to set free....

Heartstrong, you might want to think about selling your books, too. I know one of our members here sells her books, or use to, on another site...I THINK it was "half.com?" I'm not sure about that.

Does anyone remember? Princess! Where was it you sold your books? Was it half.com or halfoff.com or whattt?
