Good posture-still fashionable, conscious effort?

Maybe it's just me...but is good standing and sitting posture still considered a conscious good habit/fashionable/cool among young people? I see so much bad posture among the young...and think,...there's going to be back pain soon unless they fix themselves consciously with exercise...and good posture.
I don't think computers, laptops, etc. is helping the situation among the young either.

I noticed last week, my partner's 29-yr. old daughter had some bad posture problems. I mean really slumping and she was diagnosed with a minor S curve back problem when she was a child. She is lovely lady that looks after her weight...but aside from walking dog, she is not doing any exercises to offset some near future problems.
By the way, my posture isn't perfect either ....I have to consciously straighten my body or exercise it.

The kids I work with openly sit there and discuss their drug habits. They even discuss it with the supervisors. They slouch, come to work looking like something the cat dragged in and brag about how drunk they got the night before.
These are college students...the future of our country.

Amazingly in gr. 8, our school had a posture contest...for girls and boys. I'm not kiddin'.
And the girl who won one year, sat behind me in class. She was 5'10" and did have wonderful naturally straight posture.
It did raise some awareness about good posture.

I have a herniated disk, spinal stenosis and a hemangioma tumor on my spine. Could this be related to bad posture-always tried to stand up straight but I don't know.

I have seen a new trend with girls realizing that standing up straight makes them look skinnier/more toned. Hopefully things like that will help renew the trend again. As someone who is only 5 feet tall, I always try to stand as tall as possible.
