One of our customers, a gift shop, will be having me as an educational speaker/guest artist at her place of business tomorrow evening. The small town has a monthly Art Hop complete with hors dourves etc. I will be speaking on "Everything you always wanted to know about Shea Butter but were never told; The benefits of Pecan Meal in soap: Goat milk, the healthy source for your skin".

I liken this to a day at the market...educating people about what we love to do.....help their skin!

Look for an update on Sunday or Monday! I'm looking forward for this opportunity...plus, I used to live in this town when I met DH so hopefully there will be old friends there. They did a press release to draw customers.

Good luck. I'm sure you'll do well. YOu know all about it. IT's your business so don't sweat it. What can they ask you that you wouldn't know? Looking forward to hearing about it.

Are you giving coupons or anything to move them to making a purchase? Maybe everyone in attendance gets 20% off if they buy after the talk?

the store owner is offering 15% of at the time of the hop...from 5 pm to 8 pm. She's a "go getter" in town and really promotes her business...so it should be fun. Most people in town knew/know me at the Tupperware and Avon lady, which is what she mentioned in the press release. We used my maiden name, hyphenated with my married name. to identify me.

Well, it went well. Sadly, no many showed up even though her "usual" turnout is big. But it was M'day weekend AND graduations. So, I offered to go again. And, as always, I learned from the experience.

Perhaps on the 2nd future session, you could try a broader, softer marketing topic.

Your topic points directly to one of your products which clearly any reader would know you want to make a sale. Nothing wrong with that.

But there maybe other women (I assume you are pitching this to primarily women) who might want other more general info. Maybe something educational (which requires abit of research on your part) where it might be: "What's good, better: lanolin vs. shea butter?" You might also have a little prize raffle for incoming customers who attend your session...which include group/1 of your products. Or a gift certificate.

Do you have your company participate in local charity auctions? It might be good to have your product as part of it. People like companies with abit of community giving/social responsibility. It is also marketing...all these techniques. Consider these prize giveways as part of your marketing budget, because that is necessary for distribution expansion and sales.

For any women-centred athletic fundraising event, I most definitely suggest this could boost your company's profile.

Thanks...great input orchid!

We are there to "sell a product" actually. While there, I sold half her inventory of the shea butter! So, I will take your tips and ideas and keep them in my memory bank for future. Customer input is always what we thrive on!
