Hi All-

I was wondering if anyone has attended any great networking groups in the Boston area. I am currently employed by an architechiral firm as their Controller/HR and Office Manager. However, my hours have been cut back drastically (due to lack of revenue) and I am looking for another job somewhere in the "service" industry. That industry can be engineering, architectural, law, interior design..any industry that does monthly billings. Would anyone be able to help me out?
It would be greatly appreciated...oh and did I mention I'm a baby boomer? How lucky am I?

How about your Chamber of Commerce?

Hi there:

I would second the vote for BNI...they have chapters all over the country and they are the largest networking association in the world. I'm the VP of my Chapter here in Maine and it's been awesome for networking and for referrals. You're allowed to pop over to a Chapter twice to check it our without being a member.

Also like our fearless leader, Dotsie suggested, The Chamber of Commerce can be beneficial too. If you're not sure which one or you don't have the money for membership right off, you can usually attend any Chamber's Business AfterHours mixers. They have them all over the country at most Chambers and anywhere from 100-250 people can show up. They are hosted at different businesses in each community. These are usually from 5-7 pm or so and they are networking socials where business people, company owners, CEOs, the who's who of that particular community mingle. Chamber members get in free or for about $5.00, folks just visiting like you would be might be around $15.00, but it is well-worth it for two action-packed hours of a chance to enjoy wine and munchies (and your business cards...and charm!) with the top people in your area.

Also you can call any Chamber and ask for their list of other groups in the area (nonprofits, service clubs, networking groups) that may be good networking sources for you.
