Blue death screen cry: my computer screen turns blue with white writing and a physical dump countdown begins in the bottom left screen.

Has this been happening to anybody else? I've been enduring the blue death screen all year and haven't cracked the code yet. I turn my computer off when it happens.

I do back-ups all the time, but I'm still worried I'll lose things.

Have you checked to see if you have a trojan horse virus or some other evil virus?

Sounds like you have been bitten by a bad one, for sure. How are you backing your computer up?

Suandra, if your mean little computer will let you, go to lavasoft and download Adaware. It's free and finds those mean buggers easily. Then it will quarantee them, too.

Spyware is good thing to have on your computer too. If you don't have an anti-virus, a free download is available called AVG.

Cookie, it could be anything from a virus to some spyware/cookie that a website left behind. Do run a good virus check and anti-spyway check. You can google those if you don't already have them and at least get a 30-day trial. Use some reputable software though that doesn't use popups to advertise themselve...sort of ironic but a lot of less reputable anti-virus and anti-spyware folks do advtertise via popup. Popups are often the culprits of spreading spyware. McAfee and Norton are two that I would highly recommend. Also, run a firewall (McAfee and Norton also provide) and don't enable popups in your browser.

Another possible scenario though is that your computer is experiencing difficulties with the operating system (Windows) or some hardware conflict. That right there is a lot of troubleshooting and without knowing exactly what is happening (can't read your screen), I can't give you any more information beyond that. It might be worthwhile to find some reputable tech support person who can rebuild your Windows installation, do a defrag of your hard drive, and verify that your hardware is all working correctly.

Oh...I also meant to mention that Windows also includes a firewall. You can try to enable that too!! It's usually not updated as often or is as comprehensive as others out there but is good as a less expensive (read: free) countermeasure.

I have Spyware and my Windows has problems. My next door neighbor computer whiz saw it happen, recognized it, and calmly said "no big deal." A friend of mine gets it. too. I'm not alone. I do back-ups with that "stick" thingy.
