Hello all. I've been away for awhile, haven't had time to post or read. I'll try to do MUCH better in the future!

I loved the post about the book "Solo Bliss" and plan to buy it.

I'm planning to take a week's vacation sometime in the next month or so, just to get away and spend some time alone, to try and really sort out what I want to do with the next years of my life.

To that end, do any of you have other similar books that you'd recommend? I'm really in the frame of mind to do some serious soul searching and life planning right now, so any ideas would be appreciated.

I just finished "The Five People You Meet In Heaven" by Mitch Albom (the same author who wrote "Tuesdays with Morrie.") Very good book with a thought-provoking message. I finished it in just a few hours.

Many thanks for any suggestions!

Whirlwind

whirlwind, welcome back. Try looking at the Boomer Books page and Recent Reads on this site. You may see something that hits your fancy.

I'm not sure what you're looking for, but youmay consider:

What To Do When You Don't Know What to Do. It's a teeny little book that you can read in a couple hours. Very inspirational and faith based.

Also, the guy who wrote Don't Sweat the Small Stuff also wrote, You Can Be Happy No Matter What.

Another thought, (I haven't read this one) Awakening at Midlife. Let me know how it is if you read that one.

Have a blast! Reading books for self discovery and improvement is so much fun!

Hi Whirlwind,

I write reviews on books for women for an online mag; you can find the link in my signature below.

Another book I love that I haven't reviewed yet is "Journal of a Solitude" by May Sarton.

Best,
Kelly

Whirlwind...these books are ALL good suggestions. Might I also suggest you read "Defying Gravity" by one of our own members, Prill Boyle? Its about women who started over during and after mid-life. Its very inspirational and she was the featured author of the month here a while back.

If its not too personal to do so, please keep us abreast of your new journey! My best to you,

JJ
