Anybody feel like venting their heartache over the shooting
of Dem. Congresswoman, Gabby Giffords? I'm sad. To think evil
keeps destroying sweet, kind successful lives, is just heartbreaking beyond description. I'm glad she's still alive
and fighting to survive. But think of it. You go out of your
way to help the world around you, and some jerk starts shooting. I know he's disturb. But geese. What is society
doing to folks to push them to this point, to harm others.

How about heartache for the 9-year old girl who was born on 9/11 and killed in this tragedy? What about the other five innocents killed?

Political rhetoric has become more and more inciteful. That town meeting should have been held indoors for everyone's protection. People are supposed to learn from the past. This is not the first time an outdoor shooting has happened at a political event.

Saundra...you're 100% correct about the hatefulness that has come with politics...inciting people with lies, hate messages, made-up things to make the other person purposely look bad...it's taken this nation and turned it into one huge hate-filled, lie mongering cess pool. And what's sad is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many people get off on this hype. Now, we have someone who evidently wasn't too stable to begin with taking this into his own hands.
This country has got to stop fighting amongst itself and work together. There was a time when respect and courteousness mattered above lie-spreading and hype for the sake of politics and being heard.
I saw yesterday where they've stopped some of Palin's stuff from being show because it had targets on the backs of some of her competition. It's this kind of disregard for any sort of consequences by the actions of radicals that has got to change.
The child who was gunned down is heartbreaking and the loss of any life over something like this is so sad.
Heartbreaking...just heartbreaking.

And what sickens me the most is that Westboro Baptist Church is applauding the shooter, and they plan to picket the funerals of those who were murdered.

I haven't heard about that yet, Yonuh. What kind of people applaud a terrorist/murderer? Dee, I heard about Palin's targets and I'm glad she's being quieted. She's out of control spreading hatred and violence.

The trauma facility and staff caring for the victims is of the highest quality.

If you know anything about Westboro, that's how they operate. They even tried to picket Elizabeth Edwards' funeral and have picketed the funerals of servicemembers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Although I think they have the right to free speech, I don't condone how they choose to use that right.

Never heard of Westboro until now. Extremists are everywhere and they don't all get air time. That scares me. I want to know where they are so I don't go there.

Westboro is in Kansas but they seem to show up in a lot of different places. Their leader is Fred Phelps; most of the members of the 'church' seem to be related to him by blood or by marriage. Their lawyer, who is related to Phelps, is currently arguing a free speech case before the Supreme Court saying that the church has a right to protest at funerals or anywhere else they choose. They protest at service members' funerals saying they were killed because the US allows homosexuals (though that's not the word they use) to live. I went to their website once to check it out but got so sickened and disgusted with the hate rhetoric I couldn't even finish reading it.

My heart aches for all those caught in the line of gunfire. The judge, the 9-year-old, and all the rest. Extremism has got to be
curbed. I don't know how, but there are some off-the-wall thinkers bouncing around the world. And if they'd focus on their
own lives, that'd be one thing. But why harm other people? Live and let live! Whatever happened to kindness, sweetness, gentleness, love, and caring? Where did those attributes go?

What are the chances that an aide named "Gabe" would be working for a political figure named Gabrielle? Sorry he lost his life!
