APPLE PIE PITA

4 apples, sliced
1 Tbsp. finely chopped pecans
1 Tbsp sugar, or sugar free sweetner of choice
3/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
Pinch of ground nutmeg
2 small pita breads, each cut in half
1/4 c whipped topping

PLACE apple slices on microwaveable plate.
Coat lightly with butter flavored cooking spray.
Sprinkle with pecans, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Microwave on high, tossing occasionally. About 4 or 5 minutes, or until soft.

TOAST pita.
Spoon the apple mixture into each pita.
Add a dollop of whipped topping.

Is this a quick and easy apple pie or what?

I've never bought that butter flavored spray, but I'm going to get some this week. My brother introduced me to it when we had corn on the cob a couple weeks ago. It's the easiest way to go when buttering corn.

You can use any fruits too. I have made apple, rasberry, strawberry and peach.

Thank you! I just downloaded this recipe, Chatty. Boy, does that
sound good! Say, I could not believe the price of stawberries.
WB and I bought 2 quarts yesterday at a roadside stand near
our home, at a cost of $4.50 per quart. I thought that sounded awfully high. So, I priced them at a popular grocery store. There they sold for $4.99 a quart. Geese! By the time you get done making strawberry shortcake, it costs nearly as much as an entire meal. Cryin' in a bucket!

Only because they're seasonal and hard to get otherwise.

Right! And MIL says the first to hit the market are always the most expensive!

Now if you can find some really good strawberries, blueberries, other berries, on sale, what I do is buy them, clean them, slice them (the strawberries) and lay them out on a cookie sheet which I slide into the freezer. Once frozen you transfer the berries to a plastic freezer bag and use them as you desire, all year long. Putting them on a cookie sheet until their frozen keeps them from sticking together in the bag and then its easy access to as many as you want at a time.
