I did some volunteer work with third graders doing craft work with some history of the craft thrown in. I was dumbfounded when I was trying to teach them how to work a square knot. "Right over left and under"............."What's 'right'?" "Your right hand." I kid you 'knot', some of these kids didn't know right hand from left. "How do you tie your shoes?" They didn't.............velcro.

Most kids DO know their right hand from their left at that age. Sometimes when they get nervous, kids that age forget their own names.

Do you know how much easier Velcro can make a teacher's life. LOL But I fully believe all children should be taught to tie their shoes. Most shoes for playing sports don't come with Velcro, so that would put them at a disadvantage if they want to be on a team.

I always like to hand write a little note into each Christmas card I send plus hand address the envelopes and I have to tell you, my handwriting is not the same as it once was when I wrote alot. My hand got all achy and the writing was yucky looking to me. This computer can be a blessing and a curse in some ways....

I had so many jobs, I just don't which one was worse. My first though, at 14, I was a Candy Stripper at St. Joe's hospital in Paterson,NJ.
The nun fired me.....I told her she couldn't do that because I was a volunteer. Tell that to a nun, I was out of there......fast. Not to mention as a cashier in the same city, a roach ran over my hand as I was checking out groceries for a customer...my boss ran up and down both sides of me...I "should have let the roach run over my hand - get this: and pretend!! duh!!
it didn't happen! right...

So were you a STRIPER or a STRIPPER!!!! Had to correct you here but I don't think that you stripped for the nuns,...but the volunteers were STIPERS .... `1 P, not 2......but maybe thats why the nun fired you!!! Hee hee

Funny that Sandy should mention being a candy stripper. [Big Grin] She must have been wild even back then.

They no longer call them stripers. Now they're volunteers.

Maybe it's becasue too many of the girls thought they were strippers! [Razz]

I can definitely attest to the fact that Sandi was wild even back then...She was always full of fun but sometimes I got in trouble because of it...I remember a smoking incident....cigarettes, that is...I was young and impressionable.
