It was suggested that we begin a forum for Empty Nesters. Any thoughts? Then people wouldn't have to search the other forums to give and receive support for that topic.

That sounds great to me. I would certainly post there. I didn't have a problem adjusting to an empty nest, but I know a lot of people who have.

Yeah, that can include those who never had a full nest to begin with, could it? Or maybe that would be hard for us....don't know.

Yeap, it's a good idea. I've been trying to get used to cooking in lesser amounts, although I still have one child at home.

And Di: [Wink] I believe we can learn from one another, what ever the reason for our empty nest, and I say this with consideration, compassion and respect for all women and each different circumstance.

There are several kinds of empty nests so to speak, the ones that never had an chicks, so Di that would work perfectly for you and others with your situatuion, married but no children. Then there are the single women who've never married and have no one but themselves, that is certainly an empty nest. I am an empty nester of the other variety (husband)and kids have moved on. I can't imagine this not being a helpful thread for us all, it emcompasses so many situations.

Good idea, then. Usually one thinks of empty nesters as those who need advice on HOW to have one...and we CNBC'ers KNOW how since we've done it our entire lives! (not that I'm happy about that, but it is what it is)

I agree, I think it would be a good idea to have

I'd love this addition...My emptying nest has really had me down this year...would love to discuss it with some wise women
who have already been there.

I'm a new empty nester too. I would welcome this forum. I also didn't have a real hard time adjusting--but was dealing with several things at the same time. Would gladly be a support to anyone struggling with this.

Sign me in. Although my 'nest' has been empty for quite awhile, we are now 'retired'!!!! So, my daily routines, etc. have been turned upside-down. Just another 'phase' to adjust to. I suppose it's not unlike having one of the kids move back in - my little domain is not the same and I'm not sure I like it.
