Another friend became a grandmother last week. I can't believe all the boomers are moving in to the realm of grandparenting. It must be refreshing to see another generation blossoming.

whew -- got back last night and then had to prepare lectures for today, and taught all day, so now I'm sitting down. The kitchen's being painted so I guess I'll jsut have to eat out tonight...

What a thrill it was to meet Ava! -- she smiled at me -- looked right at me and smiled. No, it wasn't gas. And besides being absoultely beautiful, she's so strong and smart. My daughter gave her a pacifier one day, and Ava find it with her hand now and then. And she loves music -- Has anyone heard Baby Einstein? It's classical music simplified, played on computer I think. One day, whenever the music stopped, she cried, so we put it on again. It reminded me of a Simpsons episode I once saw where little Maggie was playing something like Raffi and driving her family nuts.

Of course, Ava's mommy (my daughter) doesn't believe that I actually know anything about babies. So I kept my mouth shut mostly. She kept referring to books, etc. It was kind of funny. And typical of her. But she's having trouble breast feeding, and since I've done that 3 times, I thought I could give her some tips. Instead she consults with a "lactation specialist." She was having quite a traumatic time the evening before I left and gave Ava a bottle in the middle of the night, and cried about it, poor thing. I hated to have to leave!

I decided that I'm Nonny.

She doesn't think you now anything, but she was calling you every day right?

These poor new moms. They have so much to learn. God love 'em.It's amazing how everyone gets through it, and ususally with flying colors!

We just found out our daughter living with us with a 3 year old, 22 month and 4 month old is pregnanat again. Lord help me, it will be 13, not happy with the situation but is not the baby's fault. Will love it regardless. Sort of down about this whole thing. This has not been a good year.

Congratulations on soon becoming a grandma again. I 'm sure things will all fall into place. Your daughter is lucky to have such a wonderful, understanding Mom.

Sherri, we are older and wiser. We see what may lie ahead in some of these situations. I'm sure you have mixed feelings. May God meet you with those feelings and give you the strength to do what is best in your relationship with your daughter and grandchildren.
