Has anyone had any dealings with www.LULU.com? I'm still searching for a publishing outlet. After reading some of the contracts out there I think LULU has the best. I'd love advice from someone with personal experience. thanks.

Are you referring to self publishing only? In answer to your question, and while I've had no dealings with lulu.com, I've heard nice things about them from other authors. Be proactive would be my advice. Get some of the authors names from their web page and write to them asking their opinions. Couldn't hurt!

Good luck, JJ

I must self-publish but can't afford to do the "real" thing so looked at ALL those out there and LULU seems like the best. Thanks, JJ.

Saundra,
I considered lulu.com initially because they're right here in my area. However, I was looking for the best BANG for my BUCK and I ended up choosing a company in Chicago, IL (I'm in NC) and i got a great deal....500 books for a little over $1000. I guess it just depends on how you want to market your books. I'm trying to go national so I needed to find someone who could do a quality job for a reasonable price. PUBGRAPHICS was referred to me by a fellow author and sorority sister.

Hope this helps!

Peace & Bloessings,

Bev,

Your book sounds delightful. I clicked on your website, but for some reason it doesn't come up. Is it me?

I too have a couple of friends who have gone the Lulu route to get their books published. I think JJ's suggestion to contact some of the authors who have published there to get their input/feedback is a great idea......Good luck!

Hey to everybody! Is self-publishing also called vanity publishing? And is it looked down on by other authors? Does it make one "less" of an author to go this route?
The reason for my questions is because I, too, am looking into self-publishing...At my age I can't see sending manuscripts in playing the waiting game.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated by me as well as others!

There is a bit of a difference between Vanity and self publishing and unlike many years ago it has becomne much more popular and accepted by big boy publishers because they also know and will admit how difficult it is to get published when you're not an established name and even then it isn't that easy. Writers need to do whatever they can to get their book out there.
