Fussin' and fumin' over publisher

I feel like I've gotten stalled in the slow lane with the final destination getting dimmer and dimmer. I'm going back and forth with my publisher about the final edition of my novel. They're supposed to be sending me a second author's copy to check over(they made a mistake). But nothing's showing up on the doorstep despite repeated calls and emails. Plus I may have to pay extra and submit a new cover file because the first one got corrupted in the transfer process.
Patience is not my strong suit. I so wanted it to be available in October...now I'm just hoping for before the end of November. Hate to miss that Christmas rush!
And...yes...I am BREATHING. I did plan a fun trip to Las Vegas for the holidays to see Celine Dion and the Cirque de Soleil "KA" show. My grown daughter will go with.

Yeah, Karen, what's the deal here? Who is your publisher? I've forgotten.
Why should you be making repeated calls or sending out numerous e-mails? What I often do when I'm really stuck with companies or corporations is I request to speak to a supervisor. Sometimes, I speak to the supervisor's supervisor! That usually resolves the problem.
How awful and frustrating for you at this point. Don't despair! Sounds as though you're on the very last lap of the race.
Keep us posted :-) Sigrid [ November 04, 2005, 12:19 AM: Message edited by: Sigrid Macdonald ]

Karen,
I know how hard it is to wait, it seems like the gestation period for a book takes forever! Hope you get everything all worked out. I really appreciate the input you give to us here at BWS.

Karen,
Publishers can be a pain in the backside. I've had some pretty negative experiences with them, both with and without an agent. My sister used to always say, "Lord, grant me patience, and I want it right now." Then things always happened to help her develop patience. Hmmm. After a while she stopped asking for it.
I'm afraid I have nothing to offer but empathy. And at this point that seems pretty lame.

Karen, I host an email yahoo group for POD authors you might be interested in. There are over 800 authors who might be able to offer their advice. http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/Print-On-Demand/joinGood Ludk! Raven

Thanks to you all for the encouragement. And, thanks, Raven for that website. I'll check it out. I'm using Booksurge and up until now they were very prompt and good about everything, having assured me that their past problems with customers were over when Amazon bought them last spring. I did go to my rep's supervisor and got a response and apology. She is sending a second author copy but I may still have to redo the cover file if it doesn't look right. Proving they did something to corrupt the file may be difficult. And patience is NOT my strong suit.
I have so many irons in the fire that I made a major TO DO list and that's helping my poor demented brain keep up a little!! Best news is that I have a first date with a fabulous Englishman, who seems quite interested, on Saturday. A new love interest can always make the medicine go down easier...right? I'll keep you all posted (on both fronts). Karen

Raven, I love the POD Yahoo groups. Will have time later today to check out some of the older posts. Those of us taking the POD route need support. I didn't really try through the small indy presses, but should check that out too, even if I start with the POD. Karen

Karen,
A new man? This might be an interesting diversion to help you get through the frustration of the publishing process.
Raven,
Thanks for your warm welcome. I really enjoy your group and I was impressed with your web site. Left a message in your guestbook.
