It gives them more stability. Other people just throw their canes away quickly. I just talked to a man who transferred onto a cane after his third day postop! Everyone is so different. But even when people's recoveries are slightly delayed, joint replacement is a miracle. It can really restore the quality of one's life. Sigrid
