That radio exposure might really be just the ticket to get the word out to those who really WOULD be interested in getting the book! GOOD LUCK!

Agree with Pam about radio exposure. I've found it an easy and effective (depending on the popularity of the show) way to get the word out. Plus, it's free, and I usually don't even have to get out of my p.j.'s! Also, consider e-mailing Jane Brody, a Health editor at the NY Times, a personal note telling her about your book. Then follow up with a copy of the book and a press kit. Last Tuesday in the Science section she wrote movingly about her ordeal having a double knee replacement. web page She's still suffering. I think she'd be interested, and she's in a great position to pass the word along. You might want to pitch to the Science Times book editor as well.

prill, that's so amazing that u thought of brody cuz i just mailed her my book today!!! i read her article and it was a lot like my experience, so even tho i couldn't afford to give her a book, i did. i figured if i e-mailed her, she might not answer. my publishing house would've given her a free book but i decided it was better to send my own, autograph it and wish her a good recovery (and i do! i love brody - great writer!!)
pam - i agree re radio. i'm going to be on one show fairly soon that i think will attract a lot of attention :-)
thanks. Sigrid

smile, i'll investigate that about preventitive health programs but i do fear that i'd need to be a nurse or physio to get the hospital endorsement. no harm in trying, tho :-)
take care, Sigrid

I also do a lot of speaking at senior groups and while everybody loves my talks, they don't buy books too much. a) they find it hard to read now - and prefer large type; b) they don't have that much money and c) they don't have that much room for books in their quarters. And I don't even talk about medical stuff! Have you thought about "networking" with some orthopedic groups? Perhaps if a couple of medical men liked what you had to say about hip replacements, they might recommend it to their patients.... Just a thought. Meanwhile, you might check out my webpage for my recent articles on "The Lecture Experience." Regards, Feather Schwartz Foster www.authorsden.com/featherschwartzfoster
