I've got a new article up at Penwomanship you girls might like: Adverbaholics Anonymous - 12 Step Program to Recovery, a tongue-in-cheek look at losing our dependence on adverbs instead of finding strong verbs. Enjoy! http://www.penwomanship.com/Adverbaholics%20Anonymous%2012-Step%20Program.htmDon't forget to check out Georgia's newest offering also, and Dannye - plus there's some more new people. Missed you all. [ February 06, 2005, 05:06 PM: Message edited by: Dian ]

Great article. While on the site I found that the editor has put up a short story I sent - didn't realise it was there. Its at http://www.penwomanship.com/ThinkonTheseThings.htmRe-reading it I wish I could edit some more - but, hey, this is my first published short story! ![[Smile]](images/icons/smile.gif)

Oh neat, Julie - I didn't realize it was you! I do the website for PW. I wanted to tell one of the new members, and I can't find the right post - the one with the gorgeous artwork - I bet Penny would publish some of that work for her. For all you guys who don't know much about PW, it is dedicated to featuring work by women: art, photography, poetry, essays, stories, and I'm sure there will be more. Make sure you take the Women in Histry Poll, too. It's on the front page. (the link) http://www.penwomanship.com

Dian,
LOL. Very funny and very true. I have noticed that JK Rowling relies *** heavily*** on adverbs. I've read all of her books and just love them, but I am distracted by her repeated use of the "ly" words after "he said" or "she said."
Of course, those grammatical flaws haven't affected her sales ;-)
