Hi Friends:

Have any of you sent written material to the copyright office in a CD instead of paper copies?

Any recomendations? I'm about to go to the post office but welcome any tips you may send this way!

Thanks in advance!

RED ALERT FOR SONGBIRD SISTERS [Eek!]

Songbird, I wish I could help you but I've never done this before either. All I can suggest at this time is go ahead with the paper as it is already the acceptable way. Maybe CD is also...I just don't know.

I'd probably go with the sure thing???

Sorry I couldn't be more help [Frown]

Chickadee: thanks for answering my plea!

[Eek!] To be on the safe side I ended up calling the copyright office and they confirmed that I CAN put all the files on the CD and mail them. (That will certainly translate in less postage-considering the large amount of material I am sending [Smile] ).

And is good for storage too!

Honey, I didn't reply because I didn't know...I should have said, "I don't know" shouldn't I? At least you would have known your post was read. So sorry for not helping! Forgive?

JJ

Is it a CD of songs or literature?
If it is songs, you use different application forms.

I believe you can copyright literature saved to a disk though it might be unwise because the copyright lasts for more than 70 years and there may not be a program in existence to retrieve it at that time.
There may not even be any computers--Imagine that.

Smile, thanks for your concern, that's why I called to find out if it's Ok to send it on a disk- they said YES!

I guess it's up to them to keep files available [Confused] !

It's literature files on a Cd.( I'm aware of the different forms as I already copyrighted one song).

JJ- U R forgiven [Big Grin] !

But I will have to wait til tomorow to send them off!

[Smile] Chickadee- don't give up hope. Hope never dies!
