Hi there, Sisters,

I just wanted to introduce myself and say how delighted I am to be a part of your group. I'm an author, screenwriter and lecturer and my novel, 'Travels With My Lovers,' won the Fiction Prize in the 2003 Direct from the Author Book Awards. Based on my journals, it tells the story of a young mom who finds out a dark secret about her husband and decides to take life by the reins by going off on some intriguing travel adventures.
In my 'former life' I was a violinist with the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. My life path took a distressing and unexpected turn when injuries I suffered in a car accident forced me to give up my life as a professional musician. I turned to my lifelong love of writing, penned a number of screenplays and ultimately, my novel. At present I'm in the process of seeking an agent to represent my second novel, a murder mystery that takes place at the Met.
My new path has led me to lecturing on such subjects as Self-reinvention, Journaling as an Empowering Tool and Relationships and the Single Mom. I've been lucky enough to sign on as a special lecturer for Celebrity Cruise Lines and am now one of their top-rated speakers. All In all, quite a different path from what I always expected - I thought I'd be playing the violin forever - but because of it I have met so many wonderful people, both in person and online.
I'd love to hear from any and all of you, so feel free to reply. There's lots more info about me and my work on my website, ericaminer.com, and you can also subscribe to my monthly newsletter there.
Looking forward to getting to know you all,
Erica

Wow, Erica!

You have had an adventurous life and are quite accomplished.

Welcome.

And if you have a book to promote, send me the title, ISBN, price, where to purchase, a two-sentence blurb and a photo of the book cover. I'm putting together the information for Boomer Women and Dotsie plans to host a page with all the books by Boomer women.

A warm Welcome Erica.
I like the romantic candle/mirror pic on your site. I will get back there and read more about you soon.
Do you get much time to play your music with all you have going on?
A single mom...oh my memories are bouncing back...

Once again I say WELCOME Erica! I posted my welcome note in another topic but I'll gladly say it again. I would love to know how you began speaking, and ultimately hooked up with the cruise lines. That is so great. Can we swap lives for a bit? I'll do the speaking gig, and you can be a budget analyst. What? no trade? Go figure....

I noticed that your publisher is AuthorHouse. We have another author here, Daphne Stevens, Ph.D., Watercolor Bedroom, Creating a Soulful Midlife, who also used this company to publish her book. In reading over your webpage, it seems the two of you have much in common. You might want to get some dialogue going with Dahpne (who is the guest author this month as well). You never know where that could lead, eh? I'm going to ask Daphne, and I'll ask you as well, how did you like the performance of AuthorHouse? Did you have any problems with them?

Welcome, and I hope you enjoy your membership here. p.s. I signed up for the newsletter!

JJ

Welcome Erica
What a lovely website you have, and what an intriguing life story...

You know, a person tries to put a hiatus on their book buying for awhile until they catch up on the huge pile of "to read" books sitting on their bookshelf, and then all these wonderful, talented authors keep showing up here in the forums, tempting us with their books (sigh).....what's a bookaholic to do????????
