Hello, I am new to this board, and I think it's a great resource, in more ways than one!

Can anyone define the cutoff date for being a Boomer? I was born in 1965, but I relate to much of the pop culture that Boomers relate to. Is it really all in your head? Thanks!

Jenniemouse welcome to boomer heaven! You ARE a boomer hon....It's my understanding that boomer years start at 1964...I'm sure if I'm wrong someone will come to the rescue with info...but I believe that is correct.

Now, welcome and so glad you've joined us. Please tell us all about Jenniemouse won't you? I hope you like it here and make this your boomer home. You'll find out you soon become addicted. LOL!

Once again welcome and jump right in and start posting. There is no right or wrong way to do this. It's your home, you do it any way you want to!

Hugs, JJ

Jennie, boomers were born between 1946-1964 so technically you aren't a boomer, but that's okay. Don't go running. Not everyone in here is precisely a boomer. Tell us more!

Aw JJ, I wouldn't bother the Wiz about your brain.
He probably wouldn't know what to do with a big ole brain like yours anyway. I bet he's never seen one with smiley faces over it and I bet he wouldn't understand how it runs on oreos. And what would he know about the laugh meter installed on the dashboard?
Yep, a wizard wouldn't know what to do with your brain. It's a miracle of nature.

Sorry, just a little brain lapse of my own.

Welcome Jenniemouse! You'll love it here. We have regular members here who are as young as high school and at the other end, admitting to late 60s [Wink] The site was created for boomers but everyone is equally appreciated. [Smile] [Smile]

Welcome Jenniemouse....it won't take you long to get to know each of us and understand, well maybe not understand us exactly but accept us. I am not a Boomer age wise. Born before they gave people like us titles, we were just women then. Hope you like it here, what a marvelous way to begin the New Year with the Boomers, all of US. [Big Grin]

Thank you, thank you all [Big Grin] I guess a few months don't really matter...I was born in July of 1965. That means I have a very special birthday next year...!

Some people I knew had problems when that age came, but I won't. I know that another year of living is a great gift indeed!

Hi speaker, it's great seeing you again. Thanks for the update. How do you like teaching teens? What were you teaching?

speaker, I have two high school juniors. I'm sure teaching keeps you on your toes.

You could always WEAR something goofy and embarrass her.

I'll look for a reminder about your article when it's published. I know your book is about raising little children. Are you moving towards teens now?

Hi everyone,
Don't faint dead away, I am still among the living! I got an email from Dotsie asking me to come back, so thought I'd pop in and say hi for a bit. Since graduating last May from nursing school and getting that RN title, I've been rather busy working at the local hospital. I took a course in trauma nursing and will soon start training to work in ob/gyn. I've also done some orientation in the ICU unit and ER. All this is beside working regular hours on the med/surg floor.
I have 2 of my 6 grandchildren here with me today for a while before they go to school at 7:45 a.m. They will return here after school to wait for their mother, a surgery RN who works at the same hospital as I do. I feed the kids breakfast and keep them entertained until a few of their classmates come to walk with them the 3 blocks to school. In inclement weather, we give them a ride to school, but normally they prefer to walk with their friends. Guess it isn't "cool" to be delivered by Grandpa or Grandma.
We will be welcoming our 7th grandchild this spring. Josh (our oldest son) and his wife, Dyan, are expecting their 3rd child. We are hoping this one will be a boy, as the other two are girls.
I've been busy keeping up with my parents, who are trying to age gracefully, but struggling with the idea of slowing down. My dad, who is 82, falls frequently, but his mind is fairly sharp. Occasional lapses worry me a little though. He told me the last time we were out with the grandkids that he had never seen the youngest, little Karsyn, born last June 17, before. He had seen her several times. My mother, in her mid 70s, is suffering from degenerative spinal stenosis, and has chronic back and neck pain. We were to take her to a specialist in Wichita, Ks. on Wednesday, but the weather here was horrible and it was even worse in Wichita. You may have heard about the ice and snow on the Weather Channel. We cancelled the appointment and will be rescheduling.
Well, Abby, my six year old granddaughter, wants to use the computer now, so I'll check in again after she leaves for school.
I'm looking forward to meeting some of the newer members and getting reacquainted with the former members (won't call you "old" members, lol).
Fill me in on what's going on in your lives since I fell from the face of the earth.
See y'all later.
Dixie [Smile]

country, it's so great to see you back. I'm soproud of you for finishing school. I remeber you fretting aobut classes and tests and now it's all behind you. You're an inspiration!

The book we're starting today is called Defying Gravity: A Celebration of Late Blooming Women, by Prill Boyle. I bet you'd like it. She shares the stories of women who have made life changes at midlife and are soaring. Life isn't over until we stop living it!
