Hi everyone,
Don't faint dead away, I am still among the living! I got an email from Dotsie asking me to come back, so thought I'd pop in and say hi for a bit. Since graduating last May from nursing school and getting that RN title, I've been rather busy working at the local hospital. I took a course in trauma nursing and will soon start training to work in ob/gyn. I've also done some orientation in the ICU unit and ER. All this is beside working regular hours on the med/surg floor.
I have 2 of my 6 grandchildren here with me today for a while before they go to school at 7:45 a.m. They will return here after school to wait for their mother, a surgery RN who works at the same hospital as I do. I feed the kids breakfast and keep them entertained until a few of their classmates come to walk with them the 3 blocks to school. In inclement weather, we give them a ride to school, but normally they prefer to walk with their friends. Guess it isn't "cool" to be delivered by Grandpa or Grandma.
We will be welcoming our 7th grandchild this spring. Josh (our oldest son) and his wife, Dyan, are expecting their 3rd child. We are hoping this one will be a boy, as the other two are girls.
I've been busy keeping up with my parents, who are trying to age gracefully, but struggling with the idea of slowing down. My dad, who is 82, falls frequently, but his mind is fairly sharp. Occasional lapses worry me a little though. He told me the last time we were out with the grandkids that he had never seen the youngest, little Karsyn, born last June 17, before. He had seen her several times. My mother, in her mid 70s, is suffering from degenerative spinal stenosis, and has chronic back and neck pain. We were to take her to a specialist in Wichita, Ks. on Wednesday, but the weather here was horrible and it was even worse in Wichita. You may have heard about the ice and snow on the Weather Channel. We cancelled the appointment and will be rescheduling.
Well, Abby, my six year old granddaughter, wants to use the computer now, so I'll check in again after she leaves for school.
I'm looking forward to meeting some of the newer members and getting reacquainted with the former members (won't call you "old" members, lol).
Fill me in on what's going on in your lives since I fell from the face of the earth.
See y'all later.
Dixie
