Hi Everyone, I was fortunate to find this great site the other day and look forward to coming often to visit, post and get to know all of you. Born in '47, I qualify as a "Boomer" and I loved growing up in the sixties. A little about me...originally from the Boston area, have lived in Florida for 18 years, married with 3 grown children and 7 grandchildren. I'm an RN and published author of women's fiction. Hubby recently retired and in Feb. we relocated to an island off the west coast of Florida, 24 miles from the mainland. It's a small fishing village, surrounded by wildlife, the water and Mother Nature. I'm truly in my element here and although it's much different from living in a mid-size city, I feel the trade-off is well worth it for this stage of my life. I started a blog on both my writing and island life at www.islandwriter.net and I have fun updating it daily. I plan to look around here and contribute to the postings.....you look like a fascinating group and I'm glad I found you. Terri

Thank you so much to both of you for the nice welcome. But UH OH.......I think I'm "hooked" in here and my laundry is calling to me. What's a woman to do? I'll go tend to the laundry and assorted other things....but, I'll be back later. This place is filled with SO much to read and enjoy....I'm lovin' it!

Hi Terri! Great to meet you....I too was born in '47 so we have THAT in common as well as both being published writers. Your island sounds idyllic! Don't make it TOOOOOOOO wonderful sounding or you'll have a load of Boomer Women on your doorstep....HAHA.
Seriously - welcome to Boomer Women Speak. There are a lot of wonderful, caring, talented and supportive women here....I think you're going to fit right in!

Welcome to the boomer women forum, Terri. Let's see, what do we have in common? You live in Florida. I live in Florida too, but you've been here longer than me. You write women's fiction. So do I! YAY! And, best of all, you're part of the Florida Writers' Assn, too. Hi ya!
Your island home sounds wonderful.
thanks for joining our group. And be careful, it becomes addicting, very fast! [ August 01, 2005, 04:48 PM: Message edited by: Vicki M. Taylor ]

Thank you to ALL of you for such a great welcome! Got my afternoon coffee here and love this female bonding. Pam...hey, who knows, maybe eventually we can all get together here on my little island and set it on it's heels with a crowd of female boomers! JawJaw....Believe me, I feel very blessed about this writers studio. It was actually my husband's idea, because I had a lovely office in our other house and this one in the new house is.....well, blah! LOL So I sure as heck didn't say "no" when he suggested it. LOVE your suggestion for laundry... ![[Big Grin]](images/icons/grin.gif) Just knew I'd learn all kinds of great things here! Vicki...Vicki...We know each other! Well, at least I know WHO you are...lol From FWA. Not sure we've actually met at a conference, as I think the year I presented there (2 yr. ago) you couldn't make it and I was disappointed not to see you. I'm presenting there again in Oct. and hopefully, we finally GET to meet in person. Again.......thank you to all of you for such a great welcome! And you're right, Vicki...it IS addicting...think I've been ON here today, more than off....lol

Hey Chick, Thanks for paying a visit to my blog. Yeah, our golf cart is a lot of fun and also the most practical way to get around the island. Not to mention the savings on gas. Only time I ever use the car anymore is to leave the island. Thanks for the welcome here.....I'm lovin'this website and all the postings.
