Ok, I'm back...
Pam Kimmell: I’ve not heard of Little Barugh so it’s probably nowhere near me. Yes, the countryside here is beautiful and I’m lucky that some of it is just a very short drive away.
Dianne: I’m from the North East about 40 miles south of Newcastle.
aquamarine: Hello fellow noob (newbie).
Fiftyandfine: Ah, now I know where on the map where Bury St. Edmunds is. Nowhere near me, I’m afraid but I’m sure it’s a nice place anyway. I’m glad you enjoyed the ‘cuppas’ over here. Yes, they haven’t gone out of fashion despite coffee shops popping up all over the place! LOL
Terri: Ah, Doncaster. We’re getting a little warmer now. I went to a nightclub there once! That was when I used to live in a neighbouring town called Rotherham. Your friends may know Rotherham.
Sherri: I’m sorry you didn’t like Paris. I spent my 21st birthday there, ooh, 13 years ago! LOL. It was lovely but I really wish they had fibre. Gave me tummy ache all that rich food!
Dotsie: You mentioned accents. I don’t really have one apparently. According to two people I’ve spoken with. See, where I come from, some southerners call us Geordies when we’re like 40 miles south of there but I guess there’s a mixture of Yorkshire and Geordie to make up our accent since we’re between both places. Anyway, when I did move to Rotherham (South Yorkshire) for 4 years, I picked up a bit of their accent. When I returned to my birth town, my accent became more neutral, that a couple of people, one completely local and one from Yorkshire just north of where I used to live, didn’t recognise my accent as being local to my birthtown! And the person who used to live in Yorkshire didn’t have a Yorkshire accent or a local accent and didn’t recognise the little Yorkshire I’d picked up. Weird eh? Accents – they’re so fascinating.
Dee: I like PG Tips, too! I’m sorry you’re not getting your McVities choccie fix. Did you like the Plain or the Milk chocolate ones? If we get to know each other well enough to swap addys, I’ll send you some!
Take care everyone and thanks again for your replies.
