Hello everyone!

I stumbled across this place via a Google search for somehing else. It certainly looks to be a very warm and welcoming place so I thought I'd join in.

Look forward to meeting you all.

Take care
Itza

Welcome Itza! You are absolutely right in your description of what you have found here - it IS indeed a warm and welcoming place. There are a lot of great ladies who regularly visit the Forum several times a day so feel free to share ANYTHING and EVERYTHING with us here. A more supportive and caring group of ladies you shall not find that's for sure!!

One of my good friends, and a co-author of a book I've written which will be published shortly lives in the UK in "Little Barugh". My husband and I have included Britain in several of our vacations over the years and just LOVE the beautiful countryside.

So glad you found us here...looking forward to hearing more about you and your life! [Big Grin]

Hi Itza. I'm sure glad you found us by accident but then, I don't believe anything happens without a reason! Where in the UK do you live? I'm really looking forward to hearing about your life there.

Oooh, somebody newer than me-e-e, somebody newer than me-e-e, somebody newer than me-e-e. (I know, I know, get over myself [Roll Eyes] )

Seriously, it's great to be able to welcome somebody else, even if I've only been here about 30 seconds myself!

And itza, do tell us more about yourself and where you are. I lived in West Row/Mildenhall (near Bury St. Edmunds) for a while. In fact, both of my children were born there, and it's where I developed an addiction to "cuppas" and digestive biscuits that has lasted 30 years. Fortunately, a lot of Floridians are transplanted Brits, and somebody was smart enough to open a store called The British Store (ever so witty, don't you think?) a few miles from my home, so I rarely have to go through withdrawal!

Again, welcome. The more I read here, the more I feel like I've run across my long-lost family. It's l-o-v-e-ly!

Dotsie,
"Cuppa" is just short for cup of tea. That and "ta"--short for thank you--are two bits of British slang that stuck with me. My Colorado friends tell me that I've left behind all trace of a British accent (it was westernized right out of me) but they get a kick out of the way I continue to use some British expressions. I still say things like "ever so" and "lovely" and "luv." New Florida friends are even more amused that I can call somebody "luv" and "h-u-n-n-n-e-e" (in the most southern-style utterance of the word) in the same conversation. The real irony is that I've been invited to become a high school ENGLISH teacher! [Big Grin]
