Good morning everyone! My friend of 40 years (giving clues to my age already....) sent me the link for this site, so I enrolled immediately. What a cool idea..."women of a certain age" helping each other and yakking online! That can only be a good thing..
I'm from Connecticut and just turned 50 in August. I love reading, especially murder mysteries, have a husband and 3 grown children, and sing in my church choir. Two immense and spoiled felines round out my household, and I work in a dental office 4 days a week, doing insurance arbitration and collection. Hey Dianne...What other way can women of our age BE, but aggressive?? Otherwise, we get run over! Seriously, thank you, everyone, for the wonderful welcome...I didn't expect to find so many new friends that fast! You ARE a friendly bunch and that's rare in this day and age.
As for my friend..yep, we met on the bus when we were in 4th grade (age 9) and through everthing since, we're still friends. God must have had a reason we're in each other's lives.

Welcome Sera! A fan of murder mysteries huh? Well that's nice to know - you will find a number of writers frequent BWS forum and I am one of them. It just so happens that I am writing a mystery series for my publisher and the first book (released last summer) is a murder mystery.

My sustah (I'm Southern) is the office manager in a dental office so I've seen the madness of it all in their day-to-day routine. Bless your heart. Talk about stress!

Sera, welcome from me also. I worked in a dental office a few years ago. Do you have any stories...I had a gentleman bring in his brother's false teeth and asked if the Dr. could make them fit. I said "fit your brother?" He said "No,me...my brother is deceased."

Good morning everyone! I'm laughing my a** off already reading your responses...thanks for the great start to my day!Yes, you do all seem very grounded and supportive....we could all do with more of that in our lives! Pam K...congrats on your soon-to-be-published book! I envy you that..one of my dearer dreams would have been to be an author. That's truly wonderful.Chickadee...oh,can I tell you some stories! The latest has to do with one of my bugaboos...cell phones! We have huge signs posted, asking people not to chat on cell phones in the office, yet we recently had a self-important gentleman get seated in the dental chair talking on his cell---get novacaine and talk on his phone (while drooling)...and then make the doctor wait, drill in hand, for him to FINISH the call before he could begin drilling! I told my boss he had FAR more restraint than I would have shown...I'd have grabbed the phone and tossed it out the window!

Welcome to the best website for women of a certain age, hands down! You're gonna love it here. And I can identify with you about the dental office. I worked for my dentist for three years, as a receptionist. Wow! We saw it all at that office. Our boss used to say that when he retired, he was going to be a stand-up comic. I didn't want to hurt his feelings, but it would only have worked if he first gave the audience some laughing gas.
Anyway, welcome!
