My name is Chloe...I am new to the forum and just wnated to say Hi and wish you all a Merry Xmas...I am Australian, 39 years old but for the past few years have lived in Bangkok Thailand with my Thai husband Pon. No kids but 3 step children on his side...We dont celebrate xmas in thailand so I will be working on xmas day..If I was in Australia I would be on the beach...We are hoping to return to Australia in 2004 so maybe next year will be a beachy kind of xmas...

Welcome Chloe. I'm relatively new here also. It sure seems like a neat group.

I'm wondering what time it is there in Australia. Is it day or night? I can never keep up with the time differences.

Too bad about Christmas not being celebrated there. You're missing a terrific time. I was wondering why you wrote xmas instead of Christmas. I had heard that people of the Jewish faith write Christmas that way. There seem to be a lot of different faiths here and all seem to be compatible. We're learning about each other's faith it seems.

I am an Australian but I live in Thailand..Thailand does not celebrate xmas because it is predominatly a Buddhist country. I spell xmas that way cos its quicker to write..I am not Jewish...Chloe...

Chloey, Thanks for answsering my question. I understand that Thailand is a beautiful place. I have a friend who is Thai who I have lost track of. I'll try to find the way he spells his name. I'm sure you wouldn't know him of course, but maybe.... He is from the royal palace so..

I dont know the time difference but is 11am on Monday right now....
I met my husband in Bangkok in July 1996. I had just spent a few months in India and was on my way back to Japan where I lived at that time...Things kind of developed via the mail and telephone and my visits here...We got married in May 1998...And are very happy....
I have been away from Australia almost 10 years and feel the need to go home...Who knows what awaits us there??? My hubby Pon applied for his Aussie visa 7 months ago and we are still waiting for it to be approved..Its been a long 7 months and hopefully the wait will be over soon....Thailand is a lovely place to visit as a tourist but a very difficult place to live permanently...
What are everyones plans for xmas....??

Chloet, sounds like you enjoy traveling. What was taking you to all thes different places, pleasure, work?

Our family tradition is to stay home Christmas day. I think it's the only day of the year when no one in our house gets in the car to go somewhere. It's wonderful. We stay in our pajamas as long as we want. Grandparents drop in throughout the day and eat lunch and/or dinner with us, and we just light a fire and take it easy. Can't wait until all the crazy preparation is over.

I haven't been on the board much due to the overwhelming number of activities during Christmas (my husband is a pastor) but hope to get to know you better!
