Adoration, often 'tis, the first thing, That will enamore the young heart. A handsome face, a winsome smile, Gives "so-called" truelove, it's nudge 'n start.
Manly charms, may confuse girlish wisdom, Via smoke 'n mirrors, guys give girls the slip, Strangers rush along backstreets, And exude false impressions, Thinkin' they're cute and ever so hip.
The only advice, I'd will or give, Let no guy mess with your mind, Plus, don't change how you live, Or let anyone treat you unkind.
New words: ???? you choose which ones

The years have passed so quickly Taking far too much too soon, Sometimes now your face is a blur In the chaos of these empty rooms.
But sometimes in the quiet stillness Of a gentle summer’s night I can smell the sweet aroma Of amphora from your pipe; Or catch a glimpse of you reading In the corner in your chair If I close my eyes and focus, I can see you sitting there.
Ten years since Heaven stole you, You’re much too far away, My heart still aches with yearning To see you smile my way. I miss the way you tickled my toes, Your presence warm and true; My silent rocket scientist, Daddy, I love you.
New words: frazzle, button, pistachio, ballyhoo

Hello my dear fellow poets. Just want to say I love your poems. I have to take a little break from our creative venture. Don't have so much time, now that I'm relaunching my work big time...but I am reading yours and enjoying!

New Words: frazzle, button, pistachio, ballyhoo
Pistachio pudding is fun to munch, Whether devoured for breakfast, dinner, or lunch.
No need to pop a button, Look here, and you'll see, Easy as saying one, two, three. Don't get in a frazzle, There's no pain, no fuss, It requires no magic, razzle dazzle, or muss.
It's a no brainer to prepare, And it'll go anywhere. Use it as a sidedish, potluck, or desert, It melds in wherever, doesn't matter, Won't hurt.
Ballyhoo, here we go, Below is what you need to know.
Buy pistachio pudding, ready to mix, A can of crushed pineapple, and baby marshmallows, to fix. Add a bit o' cool whip, And stir it all up. Then chill it down and pass it around. Watch everyone smile, 'n nobody frown.
New words: anxious, cold, winter, distress

Wow, Jabber, what fun! I thought those words would be difficult to use, but also fun. I love what you did with them!

Jabber, I'm sure most daughters love their Dads, or at least yearn for a solid relationship with him.
I was very blessed - I had very little connection with my Dad while growing up. What relationship we had was based on fear, because for my entire childhood it was drilled into me not to complain or worry my Dad or he would have a heart attack. So I grew up terrified that I would be the one to give him a heart attack, so rarely ever talked to him.
Then in the mid-80's, I wrote him a long, LONG letter, pouring out my heart. To my utter surprise and delight, he answered me with an exquisitely tender letter, which I still have, telling me how much he had always loved me. He also explained a lot of his own religious background which had made it difficult for him to be affectionate with me. He answered a lot of burning questions, and from that moment on, we enjoyed a wonderful relationship. I would call him when I knew Mom wasn't home, and we would talk for close to an hour (he rarely ever talked on the phone).
So I got a second chance to enjoy my Dad. When my hubby came on the scene, he and Dad got along so well, and would spend hours in the basement talking about his life and upbringing, things I'd never heard or known before. My hubby knows more about my Dad than I do! But now it's good, because with my terrible memory, it's very comforting that hubby remembers all of these conversations and tells me wonderful stories about my own Dad.
