Jeopardy is pitting a computer named Watson against two past
champions. I think it's funny! crazy

Since IBM created Watson, I'm wondering if they'll get the million dollar prize money should the robot win.

I must admit I don't understand putting a robot on Jeopardy;
how can there be anything it wouldn't know? It's like asking
google a question. It has all the answers programmed in! Right?

Sounds stupid to me, who would even want to watch such a dumb show? You know the computer will always win, right?

That's what I thought. I don't get it! You've gotta wonder
who thinks up this stuff. Some of those "think tanks" must be
full of donuts and high-test coffee!

And speaking of "donuts," do any of you understand Medicare's
"donut hole"? My understanding is, it's the gap between what
they pay and what you are left paying. But isn't there always
gonna be something left to pay, anyway?

Google only has answers to previously asked questions..
knowledge built on knowledge
when a human can see a connection using prior knowledge and a bit of creative guessing it may be possible to "outwit" a programmed computer

Medicare's 'donut hole' doesn't make sense to me, but since the drug companies basically wrote the Medicare Part D bill, I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Basically, once you have met your deductible, your prescription coverage kicks in until your prescription drug expense reaches a certain dollar amount. After that, you pay 100% of the cost of the drugs until you have spent another specific dollar amount and then the 'catastrophic coverage' part kicks in. However, in 2011, I think you are able to get your prescriptions for 50% off while you're in the 'donut hole'. (You meaning the generic everybody out there - not you specifically!) I don't know what the specific dollar amounts are, but I'm sure that information is on the Medicare web site.

It was the "donut hole" terminology I was actually wondering about. What bright light came up with that?

MA,
That's interesting deduction: outwit a computer!

MA,
I actually see what you're saying. If anyone can out smart a
computer, it'd be Ken Jennings. Don't know Brad Rutter, but he
must be right up there with Jennings for them to put him on such
a program. Perhaps it will draw a crowd!!!

The trick will be in the kinds of questions asked. If it's a "fact" then a computer can answer. But I guess Jeopardy is only that kind of question, rather than judgments.
