We have snow too, Eagle...but not like what you have. Sounds so ...Chrismassy.

Colors, flowers, heat, desire

The poinsettia sprouts in crimson blossoms,
Awakening the desire for colors red and green.
The star like flower, is so popular, it's ausome,
In every office, store, and home it's seen.

It's resistant to heat, sun and cold
I can drown it or let it dry up.
Still, all my poinsettia's get very old.
By Easter, - I have had enough.

Sooo when Spring time rolls around,
I say goodbye to the Christmas green and red,
I plant those old poinsettia's in the ground.
and let them thrive in a natural earth bed.

New words
Heart, filled, almonds, smell

We just ate chocolate almonds
Our tummies danced with glee
I love the smell of chocolate
and how it so pleasantly filled up me!

New words: garden, birds, squirrels, chase

All around I run while wearing my good pearls,
What am I doing? Why I am chasing the SQUIRRELS.

It's not the catch that is the ace,
Oh heavens no, it is the CHASE.

My neighbor says we look like nerds,
When we run around the yard chasing the BIRDS.

Well all I can say is I beg your pardon,
This is my yard and we're playing in my GARDEN...

WORDS: Crumpet, cherry, blossoms, fruitcake

What delightful imagery you've put in my head, Chatty, you with your pearls chasing squirrels!

Heard via the news that Vegas has gotten snow! A couple days
ago, I spoke to my sister in Tucson, Az.; she said it was
70 and 80 degrees there. Then, I heard Arizona got snow. That's funny! Weather reports claim there are three snow storms headed our way. I know what you mean Eagle: Surrounded by a blanket of white snow, it's hard to think of anything colorful and flowery!

Crumpet, cherry, blossoms, fruitcake

Fruitcake is not my favorite desert,
I'd sooner give it to a dove.
The crumpet seems fine,
To these tastebuds of mine,
But that's not what I truly love,
For any foodstuff made from a cherry,
Makes me send praises above.

Blossoms, now they ignite thoughts,
Of things I wish never passed,
Like robins 'n hummingbirds,
And sweetly smelled smells,
Of freshly mowed hay and grass,

New words:
Happiness, warmth, fireplace, gifts

Happiness, warmth, fireplace, gifts

If you want to know it all
And find out what I think
Then come in close, sit very still
While I use up this ink

Happiness comes in many forms
To some a fireplace rates
While others want bigger joys
Cars, clothes, and even roller skates

The gifts for me have been you girls
With all of your warmth and cheer
And just to show you that I care
I'm coming back next year

Is that a threat or do you want
to see me every day?
Then you shall have it,
my dear friends
2009's OUR year to play!

Whistle, camera, horseshoe, tickets

Lol lovely JJ. You've been as scarce as hen's teeth.
Carry on with your poems but I just wanted to add this one(as I do every year)and this thread looks like a great place to post it..

'TWAS THE DIET BEFORE CHRISTMAS

Twas the night before Christmas, I crept through the house
and searched for the cookies, avoiding the spouse
I keep off the hall light and prowled round with care
Hoping my thighs wouldn't knock down a chair

My pup and my honey were asleep in their beds
While I was here tearing a lettuce to shreds
I tightened my girdle, pulled up my chin strap
Opened the fridge and began to unwrap

I moved the cheese over and pulled out a platter
while sticking my finger in cookie dough batter
When all of a sudden I had a hot flash
I practically lost the whole works in the trash

The breast of my chicken was white as fresh snow
I placed it right next to my big sloppy Joe
Oh look, peeked my wandering eye “over there”
Nice cobs of corn, for my favorite reindeer

I had to be careful, yet, quiet and quick
'fore hubby would catch me with dear old St Nick
Of course there was no one else but me to blame
I chuckled and worked near the blue candle flame

Now sweetie, my darling, my sugar, my vixen
He'd say all of that if he'd catch me here mixin
He thinks there's no Santa, Ohhh nooo, not at all
He'll be here I thought as I strained my tea ball

I squeezed out the whipped cream, some squirt in my eye
How pretty it looked on my blueberry pie
I jumped to the stove top to check on the stew
Not missing a lick of my chocolate fondue

Tomorrow I'd carry the burden of proof
Tonight I 'm just gonna sit down here and wolf
I ate all the chocolates and cakes by the pound
A swig of fresh eggnog helped wash it all down

I found myself tired but had to stay put
And added some garlic to fresh ginger root
I whipped up some horsdoeurves and just set them back
I'll eat them at midnight if I get an attack

My eyes were all red from my 1st Bloody Mary
So full, when I burped, that I popped out a cherry
When just out of nowhere I heard a “Hello”
I nearly 'bout choked on my gob full of dough

Any for me, dear, he smiled through his teeth
Shhh I said, quiet, and have you a seat
Been waiting here for you, here's stuff from the deli
And some of the cheese that you like, good 'n smelly

Eat up now, I whispered, got the place to ourselves
Oh yes here's some cookies for your Keebler ..uh elves
Here's you some roast beef, and fresh sandwich spread
Hurry now, so I can creep back into bed

Yes, thanks for the lunch, he gave a sweet smirk
I'm full but it's time that I get back to work
He put up his finger, wiped cream off my nose
Kissed my cheek, passed me his usual white rose

He looked me all over and gave a low whistle
Girl, your still so pretty, like the down of a thistle
I heard him exclaim as he rode out of sight
I'll see you next year...If you're up for a bite.

My Mother's dog

When she calls him in for dinner with a Whistle
he's there as fast as a missile

With a digital Camera, mother takes the dog's picture
she gets him to pose just right with a dog bone
as a lure

The dog's favorite game is fetch
whether a ball, traffic cone, or Horseshoe
is thrown, he loves to chase after it and catch

He is such a great dog, Tickets,
could be sold to watch him perform tricks
and no one who bought one or saw him would picket

Snow, Angels, Star, Stomachache

As I was putting up my tree
and setting out the Nativity
I saw a spark of light appear
and swoop around, then disappear.

It baffled me and so I tried
to figure out the what and why;
but out the window could only see
snow and stars and shadowed trees.

So shrugged my shoulders, and reached for the box,
to find more figures - kings and ox.
Again a spark of light glowed bright
as I lifted the angel to her special site.

Her wings seemed to shine
with a light so divine
and I heard a glad hum
and heard words being sung

The hymn she was singing
spoke of new beginnings
an end to the headaches
of my fear-induced stomachaches.

I gazed then in wonder
at the Child in the manger
and said "Happy Birthday,
and thank You for Christmas.

For loving and laughter
and joy even after
the long night of journey
of searching and yearning."

The angel's wings shimmered
My heart felt a glimmer
of hope and sweet sprinkles
as light in me twinkled.

New words: caramel, lamplight, window, garland
