Injured Sparrow
While walking the wetlands today I saw a sparrow, sitting on a wooden bridge that was so narrow.
It flittered and fluttered but did not fly, When I saw it's broken wing I wanted to cry.
I eased up closer scooping it up in my blouse. Junped on my bike and hurried with it to my house.
Inside on a blanket I let it free, Reeta and Rosee were just starring at me.
As if to say mommy what have you brought, Is it a meal, or a toy what is that you've got?
With string and wooden matches I mended its wing, placed it in an empty birds cage and it began to sing.
I fed it mashed up worms and beetles to keep it well, it made us all laugh when it started pecking at a bell.
In just three weeks the bird wing was all heeled, I let it fly around the screened-in porch, it was big, yet sealed.
We called the tiny sparrow twirp, becsause when well all she did was chirp.
I opened the door on Sunday morning and off she flew, Where she was going, or if she'd get there we had no clue...

Chatty, what a delightfull poem. What a lucky sparrow to have been found by you. Love your poem too Jabber! I may not have the time to write anything right now, but I'm always checking in and enjoying your works of art!

Been absent for a time, no words to make rhymn.
Too ill to worry, wanted to get well in a hurry.
At sickness I've laughed and never seemed to care, but once you're really sick it does cause a scare.
The one thing we need to live life is air, unfortunately none was getting to my lungs inside there.
My skin was white and I looked so pale, there was no color under my fingernails.
Seems I had pneumonia and boy was I sick, hospital pumped me full of antiobotics and that did the trick.
For now I must wear oxygen 24/7, or I could find myself on a cloud up in heaven.
Now I'm not saying that wouldn't be nice, If you take the number 10 and double it twice.
I want to be around to see my great granddaughter marry, my times may be overstated and yes they will vary.
But I'm hoping in my favor because I love living, and there is so much more to do, and so much to be giving.
So if theres time in your day please say a prayer for me, when this is over and I'm well, we can share high tea...
