p.s. Now you know why they call me a gabologist...sorry...but I wanted to say this and then I'll hush. If you are going to give up one thing at a time, I would say start by giving up SUGAR right off the bat. Go to a health food store and buy up some Stevia. It is a substitute for sugar and is good for you! Once you do, you won't be able to eat sugar, it will be too sweet and will gag you...no joke!

My mother always says "drink lots of water it clears the cobwebs from your brain." Mother is now 85 1/2 not overweight and works a 40 hour a week job plus takes care of my Epileptic brother so me thinks she knows of what she speaks...

I can't imagine giving up sugar. I am a carb addict and don't know where to begin.

What would I have for breakfast if I didn't have cereal, an English muffin, blueberry muffin, toast? If I have poached eggs, I have them on toast. If it's bacon, I want it on toast.

Seriously, what do you gals eat for breakfast that isn't carbs or all fat?

Dotsie, I'm kind of doing the low carb diet and I used to eat toast for breakfast. Now I have a hard boiled egg. I hardly ever eat regular bread, it has to be homemade at a restaurant. I never eat potatoes unless they're homemade mashed. You would be surprised at the amount of carbs in certain foods. I recently learned that bananas have 23 - that's a bunch. I buy low carb bread and it's edible when you put a great chicken salad on it.

I suggest you purchase one of the Adkins or South Beach diet cookbooks.

I walked yesterday for 30 fast minutes. I was going to garden (strenuously) today, but my day just got tossed. It's good, but stressful. My son is being released from jail so I can drive him to San Francisco (2 hours) to go into a 2 year program. And my ex- wants to go as well. Yick. But I can't deny it as we won't have any contact with Jesse for at least 12 months. And, being the control freak I am, I will drive. (My ex doesn't drive well, anyway!)

Water isn't going to work today either -- going to the bathroom frequently isn't realistic! LOL!

I'll "intend" not to have sugar and see how far I get! Thanks for the support.

I eat Kashi cereal and sometimes I have fruit, or I'll make a delicious strawberry (fresh or frozen), banana, and skim milk milkshake and drink that. It makes enough for two or three meals, too. Even fresh fruit has natural sugar in it so you can't totally get away from it. I would just watch the "sugar content."

Casey! Wonderful. You have to start somewhere...you are so right about the water and the drive over there. I wouldn't do it either. I tell everybody I'm good for about 20 miles, then I have to stop and go. Good for you though making a start!

O.K. Sigh of relief. That's done.
I didn't have any processed sugar yesterday -- no cookies, ice cream, etc. High on the fat content because the group insisted on Denny's -- yick! But I had diet coke and not a milk shake, so yea me!

Today I will get at least 8 glasses of water and a 1/2 hour of exercise. I will continue to avoid the processed sugar.

Thanks for the support!

I've just decided I'm going to lose 7 lbs. in the next 3 1/2 weeks (that's 2 lbs. a week) which brings me to April 19th - Hitler's birthday!!
Hold me accountable, ok?? Going to try to cut out sugar and butter (my big weaknesses)and I've started my morning walks again.
