Last Monday, I led a workshop, "Catharsis Through Writing" for a Wisdom Circle group of which I'm a member. 14 people attended, and everyone told me how much they enjoyed the presentation.

When people tell me how much they were moved by something I did or said -- it humbles me. It reminds me of how we all play a role in the larger fabric. It also reinforces that we should not ignore our gifts.

I agree Meridith.
Talents are given as gifts to everyone and for me it is a source of great interest to see what each person has as theirs.
As I rest my eyes on a person in whatever group I am in I ponder about what their gift is.

Mountain Ash, often the frustration lies in not having the time to do everything I can or want to --- and I structure my time pretty well. So from your observation, a question arises: who has a gift that they will never or rarely use, due to economics, time constrictions, etc.?

...and I am grateful that I can at least do something, even if not all.

I so agree Meredith and Mountain Ash. My problem has always been being a workaholic, and saying about the things I wanted to do for myself, "oh I can do that next year." I was in my 30's then but now nearing the end of my sixties, I realize there is no longer time to procrastinate and am doing whatever I want to do for me, NOW, while I am still here, alive and kicking!

For me, cancer was that "get off your butt" wake-up call. I feel bad for people who never got off their butt, and then complain about "coulda done."

My daughter has a mature student back in her class at college. This lady is very shut in to herself amidst the
younger women...Until she went on a trip to a reconstructed
air raid shelter as part of a project..the doll who was the baby wearing a gas mask(A horrible thing for a baby)had her knitted cardigan on outside in..she was such a skilled knitter that she looked at the complicated pattern and felt empowered to speak out..

my job with special needs students taught me that everyone has a special something that if developed can shine..
