There are no dues for drinking buddies. I use to drink and dance years ago a lot of whisky sours , but cannot do that today , but do a mean Champane bottle . I don't smoke , but eat meat and I am not fat just slim and not a vegatrian and have a lovely long neck . How is that now can i join you club. I can talk and talk and talk.

Nancy, Whatever you do, don't start those knitting lessons at the same time you get into drinking. You'll get the yarn all tangled up and you could hurt yourself with those long needles and it would get messy and frustrating and then you'd need another drink.

aaaah, i shouldn't have used that phrase 'there's no dues or fees for membership'... it is an important phrase within the AA program, and the next part is 'only a desire to quit drinking'... i used it, because, like those whose lifes become 'unmanagable' because of drinking, my life often becomes unmanagable, because i am a nicotine addict.. The 12 step program is a way of life, but the fellowship of others is an essential part of the program. Just as good humor and humility is also an essential part in any recovery program, so it was in jest that i said, serious drinking was looking like a viable option to smoking last night..... I could no more go into serious drinking, than i could start racing around the track, my lungs are in poor condition from smoking.....

The 'words' i was not even wanting to mention was
cigerette', 'smoke' i was trying to banish them from my vocabularly even within my own mind.

You got something there . I will get tangled up in the yard . I will look like the old cat getting tangled up . Have to watch the wine bottle . Could knit a cap for the wine bottle or a holder while I drink a glass of wine .
