EVERYDAY
Everyday is Memorial Day, It isn't just one day a year. If loved-ones depart, a sensitive heart, Cherishes memories its holding so near.
Gratitude and respect, faith and belief, Work at replacing the gloom and the grief. Over and over, again and again, Warm reflections appear, as prayers end in Amen.
Rows and rows, flag-draped coffins they see, Reminding society, "Freedom" isn't free, The cost is clear and oh so dear, Soldiers' pay with their lives, year after year.
Sacrifical lambs, are giving their all, Responding to one, of God's mightiest call, Leaving at home, folks' who'll continually pray, For their sons and daughters, day after day.

Thanks for the thought-provoking poem, Jabber. Another friend of mine also made a post about Memorial Day which also spoke to me. He said: Finally, as we celebrate Memorial Day, let us do so with a solemnity befitting the sacrifice that was made for our country through the blood shed of our valiant armed forces. This sacrifice is powerfully described by Daniel Webster: "Although no sculptured marble should rise to their memory, nor engraved stone bear record of their deeds, yet will their remembrance be as lasting as the land they honored."
Happy US Memorial Day everyone! Anne

FATHER
The greatest Father lives on high, He owns the earth and fills the sky.
And the man He chose, to father our home, Worked night and day till we were grown.
If I wrote pages, I couldn't explain, Why daddy Ray, never complained.
Words can't describe, this farmer man, Slight of stature, he stood tall 'n grand.
Daddy laughed, when we're havin' fun, But cried crocodile tears, if pains begun.
The greatest gift a father can leave, Are memories of love and the faith he believed.

HALLOWEEN
Halloween...twenty-thirteen, In seven little days, it'll be a big scene.
Trick-or-treating ghosts, goblins 'n ghouls, Crowdin' urban sidewalks, obeying no rules.
Car-pooling together, perhaps you'll see, Vampires, werewolves, witches, and zombies.
Para-normal activity, you'll feel in the air, Hocus, pocus 'tis brewing, o'er here 'n there.
Suddenly strange monsters, 'll be facing you, Or lawns with cemeteries 'n tombstones to view.
There's cobwebs with spiders, large as a small dog, Toilet paper in trees, axes sticking from logs.
Haunted catacombs, skeletons, 'n horrors galore, Go hide in a darkened room, be sure to lock the door.
Fright-night 'tis for kiddies, the shy 'n the bold, Gathering sweet freebees, all their bags 'll hold.

THANKSGIVING RAINBOW
Pondering the blessings God richly bestows, Is the sweetest contemplation I think, I know.
Jubilations are many, 'tis plainly clear, Heavenly paintings are seen everywhere.
Green grass, blue skies, turquoise seas, golden leaves, Are a few Godly gifts, His world doth receive.
Rainbows arcing, so way up high, A Biblical promise, He'll keep by-and-by.
Birds brightly feathered, snow clinging on trees, Thank you Dear God, for the beauty of these.
Whether freezing cold or boiling heat, Seasons spin 'round with a rhythmic beat.
Winter, spring, summer, and fall, Gentle-hearted folks' are on beckon call.
He's sprinkling children with happiness spice, And family 'n friends, they'll cherish for life.

CHRISTMAS GREETINGS
Jesus' birthday is deserving of thy utmost respect, Matters not what they're saying is politically correct. Holidays are holidays but Christmas 'tis the best, God becoming human exceeds any 'n all of the rest.
What event is greater, than a Virgin giving birth...? Son of God, Son of man, ruler of Heaven 'n earth. Decorate the villas, stores, houses, ole pine trees, Sing precious Christmas carols, joyful as you please.
Sconces, candelabrums, light the candles there within, Let love fill hearts with wonderment o'er the birth of Him. Listen to tiny children giggling on Santa's knee, See parents' rushing store-to-store, eager'n hurriedly.
"Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas," Thy greeting doth proclaim, Taking Christ out of Christmas is crazy 'n downright insane. Jesus is the greatest gift ever given to this world, Son of man so masterfully woven, in God's own chosen girl.
"Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas, Celebrate Jesus' birthday...everyone, For He's Father God 'n Mother Mary's, One and only, Holy magnificent Son!!!
