I have albums and bags full and some in the computer and basically a mess. Yikes. I have the feeling that no one but me
gives a hoot.

Jabber have you offered any of the pictures to members of your family? They might want some.

I'm trying to do a couple of scrapbooking albums for my children with only pictures of them in each one. I'm new to it, but at least they'll have something they like that shows their life. Just a thought.

I tried to follow my Mom's method of organising photos. She pretty much arranged everything in catalogues i.e. stages in life from infancy to adulthood for each child. Mom started photo albums containing solo photos which were then followed by other albums with sub-categories: "With Family", "With Friends" etc. which are all further subbed.

I was pretty much as organised as Mom but, did not "factor in" (80's expression LOL!) my daughter's trigger-happy finger. She takes a photo of every twitch of each of my grandchildren. I can't keep up!

Sandpiper,
Yes. I have given some pictures to my son. How are you, by the bye. I love your area of the country; especially Celebration City. I figured you were busy; WB had made reservations for various theme parks and dinner clubs, so I wasn't sure when we'd be where. He also drove around doing his geocaching hobby. We come down here every spring so maybe one of these times you and I can get together. Getting back to the picture thing, my boy takes what he wants. I expect his daughters will get the rest of them. Love and prayers,

Lola, we were the same as your daughter when our kids were little. We have so many photos, and the funny thing is - my MIL was also picture happy when with our children so we not only have all our photos, but we have all of hers which in many cases are exactly like ours. It's ridiculous.

I take less photos now so you'd think I'd be able to keep up at this stage of the game.

I practically stopped taking pictures because the envelopes would get dumped in my closet, never to see the light of day again. It got too depressing.

I've long been the photographer in our family. Every family reunion, I'd drag all those family photo albums out and everyone would pore over them, laughing, groaning, swapping stories and reconnecting all over again. I brought them to both Dad's wake and Mom's funeral service. Now, sadly, they sit on a shelf in the basement because our family is still so shattered and at the moment, no longer a family.

BUT, I still maintain photo albums of hubby and me and the grandchildren and our travels, and those come out every so often now.

I learned years ago that if I didn't put the photos in the albums as soon as I got them home from the store, they'd never make it into the albums. So it's one of the things I do while watching my soap opera in the afternoon (yes, I'm a die-hard GH fan and have been for over 20 years! But I always try to do something else while watching it.) So as soon as the photos come home from the store, I sit down with the album and put them in. It's the only way I can handle the chore, by doing it right away and not letting them pile up to the point of being too overwhelming to do.

I have no idea what to do with all these albums. The family ones will eventually go to one of the nieces or grandchildren, the old camping ones might go back to the camp for their archives, the travel ones will probably just end up in the garbage someday, but by then we'll be long gone and it won't matter. But for now, they're really nice to have.
