Jabber, your poems are getting better and better. I guess practice does it for us all. Got to say the last sentence
Quote:
Or soothe their heartbroken hides
., made me really laugh grin
Boy rhyming can be hard at times, especially when you are a sick little chicken like you are right now. Hope you feel better.

And Eagle you have a sense of humour. I see it time and time again in your posts, and now your poem.

New words: bells, whistles, horns, string

You know those angels flying around in the sky?
Singing and whistling on top of their clouds?
They're all spaced out; - it's the "Christmas high",
From playing their instruments, way too loud.

Oh yes, we humans get to hear the final results,
But a lot of practicing took place first.
Even God has been seen, - checking his pulse,
While listening to the brass horns, - at their worst.

Harps needed to be tuned, and violin strings would snap,
While bells chimed, "Oh Christmas Tree", off key.
But lo and behold, even old Saint Nickolas would clap,
When angels played "Holy Night" in sweet harmony.

I really enjoy this thread.

Jabber, I too loved your "heartbroken hides". Together with EW's God checking His pulse, well, this thread just gets better and more fun by the word!

EW & Eagle,
Don't know about you, but it is so hard for me to judge my own work. I cannot seem to be objective about what emerges from my soul! Don't have time to do a poem right now; perhaps I can do one later. Or maybe somebody else will jump in here. Out of household staples and need to go shopping. I'm still a little sick but much better than a couple days ago. You gals are awesome! Prayers and blessings

Some people dream for a century,
But never travel the world.
Other folks sail the seven seas,
Though ne'er a dream have they hurled.
Me, I've done both these things,
I've traveled o're an ocean,
And dreams I've dreamed came true.
But the best thing to ever happen,
Was when, my sweet, sweet friends,
I came here and encountered you!

Let's stay with: Travel, world, dream, century

Jabber, your poetry is awesome. Your soul shows through and it is extremely good writing...and I know good writing when I see it!

Seems we are about to unravel,
Should we stay put or should we TRAVEL?

What we need is a good team,
To lead us where we can live our DREAM.

Chatty,
Thank you. I cherish your comments! Writing is a wonderful release. Wish I could find more time to spend
at it.

Newest words:
Happy, sorrow, daylight, dusk

News reports from daylight to dusk,
Contain too much sorrow, heartache, and disgust,
I find I need to channel the images,
that headlines leave in my mind,
And train my thoughts to dwell on,
What's good and happy, what's sweet and kind.

New words: Pets, love, life, uplift

When you're down, and life is a frown,
And you think nobody in the world loves you….
Then cuddle your pet, no need to fret,
He will comfort, and take away your blues.

Whether it’s a turtle, a cat or a dog,
Your pet will haul you out of that fog.
It's uplifting to know
That he needs you so,
His loving karma is the best dialogue.

New words,
ice, crazy, fret, taste

ice, crazy, fret, taste

The weather is so crazy,
This time of year,
It makes everyone fret,
Who lives around here.
Ice covers walkways, plants and trees,
And even coats high-line wires,
buildings and eaves.

How nice it'll look, out there in space,
When clouds roll away,
And sunshine takes their place.

The older one gets, the grander spring looks,
It's like the taste of sweet candy,
Or living with a real good cook.

But I guess that's the price,
Of living in the Northeast,
Old Man Winter, can be a big ole beast!

New words:
Colors, flowers, heat, desire

So nobody desires to form colorful poetic lyrics out of hot flowers, hey?

We're getting snow by the bucketfuls here - it's crazy! Looking out our window, it's all white against grey...dark and light...nothing in between. Hard to think "colors, flowers, heat and desire" when surrounded by "white, barren, cold and longjohns"! Maybe someone in a warmer climate can make a go of it? Though I hear even Texas is getting hit by this winter storm...is that true???
