Just jumping in here with a poem if you're still interested:

Silence

Such a fickle creature -- my friend, my foe.
I welcome my friend with open arms when my senses overload.
You envelop me in your blanket of stillness, comforting me.
My protector. My safe harbor.
I control your absence of sound, for me, you are my slave.
And I, I am the master.
Mean-spirited you are, my foe, dark silence.
I quiver at your abrupt entry, startling my senses.
You swoop down, blanking all thought, all consciousness, frightening me.
My fears magnify. My terrors grow.
You control my imagination; I am your unwilling servant.
And you, you are my captor
Silence, are you my friend or foe?

Whatcha think?

Vicky,
I like it. I guess the silence closes in on everybody at one
time or another. And we all feel fear, at one time or another.
Cool poem! We're always interested in poems. I find them soothing and therapeutic. Come one. Come all. Join the poetry
forum and have a ball!

Welcome Vicki, great addition to the poem collection.

ODD TO VICKI

Vicki, friend Vicki, your poem hit a nerve,
just when we think things are glowing, something or someone throws us a curve.

We all take a chance on being happy, simply trying to remain content,
but before we know it sorrow can cover us like a huge dark tent.

The best way to handle ourselves is to try to make light,
of all the unknown things that try to scare us, cause us fright.

Remember that no matter how bad things seem to be,
we are all Boomer Sisters here to share and say we see.

Of couse there is God who is in our corner from the start,
hang on to His words, He'll always comfort us and take our part.

Go ahead, write life's happenings down, the good and the bad,
this will lift up your spirit, and you won't feel as sad.

Hip, hip, hooray, its another interesting boomer day,
one more day above the dirt, good or bad, is more than okay...

Chatty... I LOVE IT!!!

You are so creative... I wrote that poem during one of my "Down" times... (obviously) and I actually got it published once. I'm looking to get it published again.

Vicki has a signature,
"What you believe yourself to be, you are."
I like that depose and the concept,
Of reaching for the stars.

Vicki, the accomplished author,
Is published and successful, I see,
But the writing game 'tis oh so new,
To a novice, such as me.

Oops, better get to work,
So I can show my editor, friend,
I'm busy rewriting that manuscript,
And soon will send it in!

I stopped in here,
for a happy read,
Couldn't believe,
Saw nothin' to perceive.

Oh well, guess you're busy,
Life gets crazy,
It'll make you dizzy.

It isn't that,
I've nothin' to do,
But I take the time,
To check up on you!

Daily to BWS I've drift in and out,
reading then posting my words all about.

I too stopped in to see any new rhiming,
but not a word was found, in o one was chiming.

I also went blank, had nothin to rhime,
at that time I would have made a good mime.

Then low and behold when I stopped by today,
I see that our Jabber had something to say.

She says she is checking to see what we've done,
knowing she's watching just adds to the fun.

So here is my contribution for the week my dear,
a little ditty I composed while drinking A&W diet Root Beer.

Once there was an ugly old crow,
she was truly gruesome but she didn't know.

A sorceress had removed all mirrors you see,
she wanted the peasants to see a make believe she.

Upon their heads she put a curse,
they could not see anytnhing beautiful, with gold in their purse.

She told them to give her all that they had,
and she would lift the curse and make them glad.

Finally the true inner beauty of the peasants shown through,
but the sorceress remained the same, there was nothing she could do.

The peasants could then see all of their friends,
but when they looked upon her, their screams had no end.

Finally the hag glazed at her reflection,
but no spell or magic could change the perception.

The sorceress stayed cursed, she'd remain an ugly old thing,
while the peasants danced around, at last happy to laugh and sing...

The End...

Chatty,
That was wonderful. I've been busy doing stuff I feel obligated
to do; believe me that takes away from stuff I wanna do. Hopefully, I can back on track with the fiction thing. I loved,
I mean loved that poem 'bout the old crow, who didn't know she
was ugly. What a trip! I swear you're cool and hip!
