Here it costs $1.69 per card to send overseas and .96 per card to send to the US. That adds up. Despite having been brutally hit by the recent market slump, I could still afford to do the exchange, but only because we've cut down in other areas. E.g., hubby and I are not exchanging gifts this year (well, we're using our annual trip to Cuba as our Christmas gift to each other this year). I can fully understand how some people might not be able to stretch an already overstretched budget any farther right now. Don't think it's unreasonable, considering here it's 42 cents and rising. At the end of November, 2007, I mailed a box of gifts to Italy. Family received that mailing in March. I almost flipped my bippie! This year's Christmas package was sent to Italy via "Priority" mail. Shipping costs, cost almost as much as the contents.
