Hi Girlfriends, I've been busy lately trying to be more tech saavy. It's a digital world. As a print-on-demand author, I hold the digital publishing rights. So I worked my way through Amazon digital platform, and I made my book go Kindle. I think. I don't have a Kindle to test it with. If any of you have a Kindle, and you want to buy a copy of my book, please pm me. I will pay for you to load my book on your kindle so you can tell me if it looks ok, or if I should de-kindle it. Also, the product page shows no tags, reviews, or keywords. The isbn is 1410724174. For paperback, Kindle version appears with it. There is so much to do to keep up with this tech world, don't you think? PL

I wish I could help you, PL, but I don't own a Kindle or know anyone who does. I do belong to a local forum - do you want me to ask them for a volunteer to download?

I don't own one either, or I'd help. Those darn things are $395 @ Amazon... hope you find someone to help.

Hi Gims and DD, well, all of Oprah's audience has a Kindle. She had Jeff Bezos (sp?) who started Amazon on her show, and he gave away about 350 Kindles, plus viewing audience got a discount for a week. Still, it's $350.00 plus. Anyway, DD, yes, do you want to ask someone to download and take a look see? Last I noticed, the Kindle version was about 7.00. It has been really hard doing the tech stuff myself, day in and day out. But each step of the way is rewarding. Now, I have time to see what you all have been up to. L, PL

Ok, PL, I've posted it on my other forum. I didn't give them the link or anything, just put it out there to see who has one and if they'll help.

Once someone says yes, I'll make sure you still need it done, then I'll pay them the reimbursment and you can pay me. I'll keep you posted.

K

PL, I have someone! She actually works with my husband, so I know she's a reliable source. Do you need to know what kind or version she has before she does it? Let me know and I'll have her download it.

I've been reading up a bit on the Kindle thing. I really don't see the benefit of it FOR THE READER except it is a way for Amazon to make more money. Now this is just my own opinion. I know when I read I want to be able to hold the book, even smell it. A book is like a friend to me. Not something cold. I just hate how the world has gone so electronic. Gimme a book in my hands.

After being on the "screen" all day, the last thing I want to do is hold another screen in my hands. Ugh. And over 300 bucks to own one? That can break down? Something else to fix? Forget it.

Nope, it's books for me.

Me too, JJ. Just another gadget we don't need. I don't think I've ever seen anyone using one.

However, if some people have them, and I wrote a book, I'd probably want to make the book available in every form so I could make more money.

As far as marketing goes, yes...I think one would want to use every possible way to get their name out there, but have you seen the profits from this type of venue? Practically zilch...

Then again...remember when people said that cell phones would never make a go of it? LOL!
