I'm certain being shot at was a hugely traumatic event. When I was a kid, a neighbor was always pointing a shotgun at people. He aimed in my direction once. That freaked me out for a long, long time. Prejudice about race, gender, color, physical appearance, religion, politics, sexual orientation, financial status, sports allegiances, etc etc etc .... is universal to all of us since the world was invented.
