that was my diagnosis about four days or so ago.
I'm in Arizona and on med's that cause one to sweat so I ended up with severe symptoms and was confused.
My doctor diagnoses me very quickly and I could'nt believe that lack of fluids was doing all that was happening to me!
I had it all from confusion to body pain to a point where I needed to see my doctor one day, without an appointment.
I spent two days with a bag attached to me and I've been on my own to drink enough fluids for a few days. I tried to go to the hospital but did not last my whole shift!
Beware of dehydration! It can cause some serious complications!
Those of you in CA, and in Nevada, you must know that it is a problem if it happened.
I also learned how to make a drink that would work like and IV bag too!
I am going out tomorrow again and hoping I'm strong enough to stay the duration of my event.
Best to all and drink up!
Dancer

I had a friend once that suffered from this and it ain't pretty. It can be a very dangerous situation. I'm so happy to hear that you've taken immediate steps to regain your strength and remedy this! Scary!

Take care everyone!

Glad that you're feeling better. Lack of sufficient fluids is a matter more serious than most people would think. Dehydration can lead to kidney stones. After two bouts of stone removals/procedures, I learned to drink water like there's no tomorrow. Hope you get your strength back up.

Many years ago, I received a panic call in the middle of the night that my Dad was very ill. It sounded like he was having a stroke - my mother was in the early stages of Alzheimer's and was frantic. We got him to the hospital only to find out that he was dehydrated..... He was running a fever, slurring his words and unstable on his feet.

He was such a stubborn man that he poo-poohed the doctors -- and getting him to drink water when he was not thirsty was next to impossible. Of course, that was just the beginning of the journey that I would take with them overthe next 10 years.

But - we learned the hard way that dehydration is nothing to fool with....

Mild dehydration can cause symptoms such as weakness, dizziness and fatigue. Severe dehydration can be life-threatening. Too little water intake can cause elderly people to appear demented, when they are not. A lack of fluid in the body can cause decreased blood supply to the brain; that causes confusion. It can cause improper distribution of electrolytes throughout the body. Electrolyte abnormalities cause many problems. Fluid loss can cause kidney failure, coma, shock, etc. Make sure mom and dad drink lots of water!

dancer, sorry to hear this, but glad that's all it is.

I was once dizzy (once? well you know what I mean) and often felt like I had to hold onto the counter so I wouldn't fall over. I went to the doctors and leanred I was severely dehydrated. I happened to be nursing at the time which was a big clue. I quickly learned to nurse with a cup of water by my side.

Drink up!

Thank you all for your well wishes and advice.
I am drinking so much water, I should float!
Yes, it can get serious and I was pretty seriously dehydrated.
I don't know why I forgot to hydrate because I KNOW all about it from being an athlete but I did forget!

I feel a lot better with regard to symptoms. I must keep drinking the large amounts of water so I've devised a plan to do so if I am at the studio or at the hospital.
