I had a dream the other night that I was on a desert island and believe it or not, I had a laptop. I was writing away while the breezes gentley stirred around me. It was heaven. Hey, maybe it was???

It got me to thinking...who else would I want there with me. Or what else?

Food, water, and no, not Sam Elliott. I'm sure Tarzan would come swinging through at some point. He'll do...as long as he just visiting.

What I would really like to have there, since its my fantasy, is a state-of-thea-art office. THEN...I'd be happy...oh, one more thing...an Oreo Tree.

What about you?

You mean to tell me that not one of you have thought about running away from home and being on a desert island? COME ON...I KNOW better.

Fess up...

Yes, many times I've dreamed of running away...and a desert isle sounds good, I think. The thing is I would want the option of coming back in a heartbeat (guess this is the purpose of dreams). I'd still want a laptop, too...sorry. A sunset before me, warm breezes and sand, a tall tropical drink...ahhhh, seems sooooo good because all I can see is the white, cold stuff outside my window! I think I'd want to be alone with some good music.

Ladyjane, I think you got hit with the same snow system we got. It's almost two feet deep in our backyard today. And my brother-in-law phoned from Quebec last night to say it was half way up their front door. But if I recall from the weather report, you (and New Brunswick) got hit even worse than we did.

So a warm desert island does sound appealing right about now. I'm going to be a wimp, though, and say that I wouldn't want to be there without my hubby. He's so strong and resourceful, a real live McGyver, so he'd be very handy to have around.

I'd hate to have to go without my afternoon cup of tea. Can I bring tea bags? And chocolate.

Well...I hope I'd be like the Gilligan's Island folks and just mysteriously have everything that I needed...exactly when I needed it...and it would all fit nicely in one suitcase...

Oh, and don't forget about waking up from a long night (in the jungle) with hair, mascara and makeup intact.

I don't think I'd want my lap top.

I'd like my husband, suntan lotion, a frozen drink, a good book, and great food. Sounds like I need a beach vacation.

Georgia, your Oreo tree made me laugh. Ross is next to me on the sofa here so he got a laugh out of it too.

Laptop sounds good. So does a never-empty ice machine. I'd also choose TROPICAL island, not desert, because I already live in a semi-desert, and frankly, with all that heat I'd appreciate a bunch of trees. Fruit trees, especially, so I wouldn't have to eat as many mystery weeds.

And tools. Everything imaginable that's not electric. I love tools and building things out of nothing. I could build a Simon Rodilla tower out of carved peach pits Chairs out of palm fronds and woven with vines and hundreds of seashells woven in from smaller vines. The list is endless. As long as I'm building/making stuff, I'm a happy camper.

If my husband wanted to come along I would not be responsible if an alligator ate him.

Jawjaw would never forgive me for bringing him. Even if the alligators ate him in the first five minutes.

LOL! Hey, wait...let's think this through...now if you brought him, we could do one of those ceremonies like the natives use to do and Crown him da King of the Island....then feed him to the alligators. Whatttt?

Honey, its YOUR fantasy, bring whoever or whatever you want.

Somebody just sent me a beautiful email with Elvis singing in the background. Brought shivers and swooning to my heart. Maybe I could substitute Elvis for hubby? I mean, if Meredith is going to do all the building, the least we could do is provide good music while we collect the seashells for her, er, chairs (won't the shells scratch our pretty behinds? Oh and make sure there aren't any hermit crabs still living in any of those chair shells...could get a bit nippy at night! if you know what I mean)

OMG, I just had a blast from the past - chocolate covered CHIPS! (as in Chippendales?) Anne...we've brought the Chippendales to Boomer cyber parties here before - I know we're older and wiser now, but maybe we shouldn't deprive Anne (or anyone else here) of the warm memories that we hold so near and dear to our cyber hearts. Sigh.

I like Jawjaw's ceremony. Although I am also not responsible if your alligators get indigestion, OK?

Eagle, Ms M is a master of building all things eclectic. I would never put broken seashells where you sit Or use shells with live crabs still inside. PUH-LEEEZE.

ON my island there is no need for makeup, we would all be natural beauties. There would be a waterfall that when you put your glass beneath its spray, whatever you wanted would pour forth, different for each person according to your tastes.

There would be a cave of flowers and on a shelf of flat stone you would place a wooden dish and ask for your nourishment desire, which would magically appear cooked to perfection.

Any laptops there would run endlessly, error free with no wires. There would be no aging and you could be whatever age you want to be. You can also change that at anytime...

In the cool evenings we would each have an area in which to slumber on petals of soft fragrant flowers with any man we conjure up in our minds, they would gladly and lovingly massage our feet and bodies and answer whatever services we want fullfilled. SIGH!!!!

The reat of the time would be spent visiting with one another, hobbies, and swimming with dolphins.

WELL, I can dream can't I???????

Good grief Anne, can you imagine that? Wait until his face thaws, the pain would have to be excruciating. Oh yuk!!!

Back in Illinois when they would announce that the wind chill factor was like 20* below zero, they said to cover every part of your face, etc. and protect your eyes as well.

I always just kept my boys home from school on days like that.

THE ISLAND...
A potion would be available on demand - 'a drink and a think' and all is yours.
The laptops would function on command - no hands.

I'd have to take my mascara, even if I was alone....(vain or what??) and a hammock, a fridge full of fruit juices, Thorntons chocolates, some good books, my Crowded House cds, a stereo to play them on (my island has electricity) and last but not least, my lovely hubby to share all this luxury with....mmmm, bliss!
