Thank you, Chatty I do have an idea what they are going through. My husband has had a full government career and his job keep him in harms way most of his career. I was beside myself at times and have learned to deal with it. I try to help those left at home too, as well as those leaving. My husband spends some time talking to those who are leaving for their tour and it seems to help them to talk to someone who has been in a situation somewhat like theirs. Theirs is harder though, they must go tour after tour, as I said. My husband stayed in harms way like they are because of his job in the government and those left behind must learn to have faith and stay in their lives as well as supporting their loved ones.
I can remember the fear when my husband had some hard missions and I'll never forget that feeling.
I know how I felt about the country as well when he was in those situations. It's complex but one thing is true of all of those heros: They believe in the US and will lay down their lives for that belief. They feel they are serving US as well as the U.S.
