I see now that I should have put "cover/artwork or inside flap" on the second question. Sorry girls. I was in a hurry to get Vicki some usable data.

Sometimes I buy through osmosis, I think. I hear about a book often enough and I buy it.

No, well...knowing her, she probably has one in the works, but she had expressed interest in knowing more about why people buy buys, so I thought maybe a poll from everyone here could/would produce some statistics for her. We'll need a whole lot more votes thought to get a good consenus going. Thanks for participating!

JJ, cover art and the info about the book on the back or flap is what influences me most.

The back flap and the first 5 pages of the book influence my decision. I stay clear of books with glitter; they are trying too hard. The cover may catch my eye, but still I don't allow myself to be influenced by it, unless the cover is a turn off, like a cheap romance.

Anno, I have two books out now, and I've written two more. Shopping one around for a publisher, editing the other. JJ, thanks so much for putting this poll together. I think it'll show good results, either way.

Yeah, back cover blurb would have been a good one to add. Another thing I would wonder is if people buy their books in a brick and mortar store or do they purchase them online.

Oh sure.....chime in NOW...hahahah....okay, okay, that is an excellent question. I do both and the reality is TIME. If I want it in my hot little hands, I go to the library, or I visit my local bookstore and purchase it. Pronto, I can begin reading.

If however, I don't mind waiting till the cows come home, I order off Amazon or Barnes/Nobel.

I try to stay out of bookstores, however, because I go crazy in there and think I have to have all of them.

JJ, on your poll, number two there could be one more choice. Personal Preference! I go into a book store and see a genre I like and brouse through the jackets to see whats inside and then read a few pages and if its good, I buy it.
