I am happy to see the comments. Friday we are moving to CA to take of my 84 year old mother. I will miss my 9 grandchildren and have done things to be able to stay in touch easily, but have been tearful because I will miss the daily contact. At the same time I am excited about going home back to CA. Mother has metastasized breast cancer and I will be in on all the appointments. I want to be able to be there for her and hope I am up to it emotionally and spiritually.

Mara, as much as you love your grandchildren, they will probably still be there when this is over. Your Mom needs you now. This is where you're supposed to be. And every last woman on this site will be here for you.

Mara, look at this time as a gift for you and your mom. Have you read Tuesdays With Morrie or The Final Gift?

I highly recommend The Final Gift. A dear friend gave me that book when Mom was dying. All my sibs and I read it. It makes you aware of all the opportunites that are placed before you when you know someone is dying. It allows you to make the most of the situation. Sounds odd, but true!
