Sorry, wrong site. Here’s the correct home site. http://www.nursinghomesmagazine.com/Default.htm

At the bottom of the page you can click on the various months to view articles in that month’s publication. Some of the articles are unavailable, but the others would be helpful to those caring for elderly relatives in their home or in a nursing home.

I thought it might also give relatives of individuals in nursing homes insight into the caring attitudes of most facilities. Nursing homes are becoming expert in the care of the elderly. Competition has forced them to look at all aspects of aging and address them constructively and compassionately.

There’s the “Lighting for Older eyes” about how need for light changes with age. The article about caring for the overweight elderly, and an assessment of the improvement of nursing homes over the last few years in the Nov issue. Information about the Healing gardens available in some facilities and therapeutic bathing are in the Oct. issue. The benefits of live concerts and music for the elderly is covered in the Sept. issue. The August issue covers issues of elderly nutrition, safe transfer of elderly patients, family/caregiver relations, and how to complain constructively.

Hopefully that would be helpful for anyone giving care at home or selecting a nursing home for their elderly parents. I'll have to look for it again, but there's also a site that compares nursing homes in each state. It lists complaints and violations of various regulations over the past several years for each facility. All excellent information for anyone placing someone in a nursing home.
