I quote Chick from the Welcome Post:
"maybe we can get a humor group together to write me a new script. "

I just sat here looking at my computer screen…and drew a big blank. Looked out the window...blank. Twirled tons of hair around my fingers...still blank. I once read that writing humor is the hardest thing ever. Would you agree JJ? But then, -- that's your 'first' nature.

Other than a bunch of boomer ladies on a cruise, trying to pick up some rich men...mmmm, .... I have no idea. Man this is HARD! How do you do it Chick? Along what lines are your skits?

Anybody have any ideas?

How about starting with a list of topics, such as:

*Bodily functions (a bit rude, to me, but sometimes funny)

*Strife between husband and wife - the showering joke Dianne posted, hairs on the soap in particular - in my life the "snoring" is the worst, I use an ipod to get to sleep, but I can still hear it! and he says I snore, humph!

*Rushing to get ready and getting to church on time - nothing goes right, it seems, I remember saying out loud when I was younger, "Get the behind me Satan".

*Satan (not the red faced, horns and tail one) in our lives - that would be a good

*What kind of underwear to wear, or whether to wear any at all - I remember when I had to buy the next size up and how disconcerting it was

*Going to the beach, seeing all the buff and beauty and thinking about how cellulite came into being

*Needing grandchildren to be quiet in certain places - should gran bribe, threaten, remove, ignore

*OH, OH - the signals married couples have for each other - i.e. kick under the table, "the look", pinch on the soft spot under the upper arm, etc.

*Running into an old acquaintance and trying not to have them remember who you are

Good grief, gimster, you've practically named off every story in my book. HA! I had to laugh.

To me, one has to dig deeper within when writing humor because it has to be "invented AND fresh." Try being funny 24/7. People think you should be. I often tell people that even Shania Twain has a bad day every once in a while (I still want her life).

Ha! I liked that last one Gimster. It reminded me of a phone call I got a couple of months ago.

It was from an old lost friend of mine; a guy, who I had a platonic friendship with. (Yes, those do exist). At the time we were both tied up in our own relationships. Anyway, he said he always regretted not fighting for me.

He asked me if I looked the same...Ha! This was over 32 years ago. I said "Of course". He asked me if I've gained any weight. I said, "not a pound". He asked if I die my hair…Me; " Don't need to; no gray hair." By this time he's dying and kicking his own a...

Lord help me if I ever run into him by accident....But then again; he would never recognize me. tee hee

I use sarcasm more than humor and I get some of the best lines from my hub who has a very dry wit. But, to write humor is something else. I always seem to go into the self-defacing mode, something I'm trying to stop doing because I'm practicing The Secret.

I'm cracking up. One of the techniques I used to get into a grateful frame of mind was envisioning my mind as a stage (hey, it helped). On the stage I set up scenes, playing them out as I would normally, then changing the scenes by acting with a grateful attitude.
Anyway, since I already had a stage set up, when you mentioned "soooo much space" a stage in your head appeared in my mind's eye. On it I was sweeping up Oreo crumbs. It was a big stage, I'll grant you that - that's what made me snicker. BUT, we ALL know it's not true, jj, you have a lot up there - it isn't an empty stage.

That's a cool way of looking at things. I may use that myself. I like it!

LOL, seems like it comes out best when we are not trying to
be funny, and just telling it like it happened ; )
